Olivia's povThe teams first match was today. It was against Haiti.
I'm glad Lottie and Maisie slept well last night as it meant that less, and the girls in the rooms next to ours, actually slept too.
They had woken up three times for feeding but after a little cry each, they both went back to sleep.
"Lessi. Baby, we've got to get up." I begin to draw pattern on her back whilst pressing small kisses to her face. "You've got your first match today."
"Okay, my love. Let's get up." Less opens her eyes and presses a kiss to my lips.
A small cry is heard from beside us and we immediately turn to see a crying Maisie.
"Hi, baby. It's okay." I gently pick her up and hold her close to my chest.
"Are they due a feed?" Less asks
"No, I was awake with them about an hour and a half ago and fed them both then." I tell her
"You should have woken me up, baby. Why didn't you?"
"Because you were peacefully sleeping and you look so cute when you're sleeping."
"That doesn't reason you not waking me up." Less points out
"Yeah, but—" I begin but less cuts me off
"No buts. Wake me up next time, okay?" Less kisses my cheek before getting up. "I'll grab this little one. Are we putting them in their England shirts today?" Less picks up Lottie and puts Lottie on her chest.
"Of course. They're going to be supporting their mummy." I say and less smiles but tries to hide it by looking down at a sleeping Lottie in her chest.

Because the girls were still so small and young, there was no way I was going to take them to the match.
Leah had decided that she wasn't going to watch the match at the stadium, instead, she was coming to watch it with me at the base camp so I wouldn't be alone.
The relaxation room had a big tv in it so we were going to watch it there.
————————
We watch all the girls leave the tunnel and make their way onto the pitch.
Both teams sang the national anthems before getting ready on the pitch.
The match kicks off and me and Leah just stare at the tv smiling due to the pride that was in us.
We were both so incredibly proud of all the girls.
It was half nine at night here and so both girls were fast asleep.
Leah had offered to hold Maisie, who had fallen asleep on her chest, whilst I held Lottie who was in an identical position to Maisie.
The first shot of the match was a shot from less.
Hempo had passed to her and she took a shot but it went straight to the goalkeeper.
Not long after, Haiti also have a chance but it goes wide.
In the 17', chaos erupted in our penalty box.
Less falls to the ground, chloe gets studded in the leg.
At first, me and Leah definitely thought it was a penalty for us.
Until we were hearing the commentators who pointed out that when less fell over, she had fouled a Haitian player and therefore we weren't awarded a penalty.
Once more, just a few minutes later, lessi shows her clumsiness by running into the keeper.
Chloe had crossed it into the box and less had run to get it.
However, the ball had been caught by the goalkeeper but less ran into the keepers arms and that made them both fall down.
Lessi got straight up but the goalkeeper stayed down.
"She's being violent today." I say to Leah, noticing how many times less has been involved in incidents like this one.
Five minutes go by and England take a corner.
When the ball gets sent into the box, Lucy goes to jump for it, but so does a Haitian player. The Haitian player also puts her hands up to, I'm guessing gain momentum, but the ball just brushes her fingertips.
After a VAR check, it's decided that it's a penalty.
As I'm clearly not playing, G takes the penalty.
Me and Leah slightly lean forward, still aware of the sleeping babies on us, and wait for G to take the pen.
She takes a run and hits the ball with a lot of power. Unfortunately, the keeper saves it.
"She's off the line. She was off the line, Le." I point out as the replay shows up.
This doesn't go unnoticed as the ref announces that the pen is going to be retaken.
And that was it. Our first goal of not just the match, but also the World Cup.
G had sent it to the bottom left corner, exactly where she was aiming in the first penalty.
She runs to the fans, the whole team surrounding her in hugs.
Once they all hug her, G finds the camera and makes an O with her hands.
Everyone knew that G was my best friend. It was like Ella and Less. G and me being inseparable, just like Ella and lessi.
"That's for you, livvy. She a good friend."
"The best." I smile and watch on with pride. Less goes and gives g a big hug after that and looks at the camera, blowing a kiss at it, followed by two more.
The commentator, who was Emma Hayes, explains that the celebration was for me, and they continue to talk about me and how I wasn't able to play in the World Cup.
The next big chance came just before half time. Alex crosses the ball into the box and less connects her head with the ball but it goes just a bit wide.
————————
The second half commences and several chances are made.
The one that catches mine and Leah's eyes is one from lessi.
She manages to take back possession in our box and megs two players but it's saved by the keeper.
"She just megs people for fun, doesn't she?" Leah jokes
"She does." I laugh
Just ten seconds after that, Keira passes it back to less who controls it and side volleys it but the keeper saves it yet again.
In the 75', less is subbed off for Rach.
Lessi played amazing today. Although she didn't score, which I knew she was disappointed about, she has several shots on target, and was doing everything she needed to be doing.
Our eyes were focused on the screen until a soft cry from Lottie is heard.
"Oh, baby. Why are you crying?" I coo as I lay her down in my lap, holding her head to support it. "You're not due a feed yet. So why are you crying?"
"Her cry is just the cutest." Leah laughs slightly
"Not when it's two o'clock in the morning and you want to sleep." I tell le
The final whistle blows and the match ends 1-0 to us.
————————
Later that night, or early morning, the team had made it back to base camp.
I felt someone lay down next to me and I turn around, cuddling into lessi's chest.
"You played so well, baby." I mumble, still half asleep.
"Thank you, my love. You go to sleep, okay? You need it." Less whispers, kissing my head as she wraps her arms around me.
