"Everybody down!" Sincline roared as fragments of Hardlight Dust rained down. Its talons tearing into the ground with a horrible shriek, the massive Nevermore landed and flared its wings, the resulting shockwave sending Jaune and Pyrrha flying.

Flaring its wings again and letting out a screech, the Nevermore advanced on Pyrrha as the champion struggled to her feet, its talons digging through the metal floor with each step. Before it could strike, a blur of red and silver streaked into its chest, two blades thrusting through the feathers with ease as a spray of dark blood filled the air.

Eyes wide, Pyrrha stared in shock as Ruby and Sincline forced the Nevermore back. "Leave. Her. Alone!" they shouted, a gleaming scimitar from Sincline buried in the Nevermore's chest as tears of anger flashed in Ruby's eyes, one of Penny's fallen swords in her grasp.

Letting out a screeching wail, the Nevermore fell to the ground, disintegrating, while Sincline and Ruby landed on the floor, their boots clanging against the metal as dozens of rocket-propelled lockers landed around them. With a hiss, the doors opened, and the rest of the students rushed in, all retrieving their weapons.

Eyes wide, Ruby stared in awe as each student from their respective academies, Atlas, Haven, Shade, and Beacon, stood together, weapons at the ready.

Glancing at Ruby as his armor dissolved in a flash of purple fragments, Sincline nodded at her, and they both turned to Pyrrha, who was staring tearfully down at Penny's remains. "Ruby, Sincline, I... I'm so sorry," she apologized, her voice choked.

"Me too..." Ruby replied softly, looking down at Penny's weapon in her hand. She clenched her fist, tightening her grip on the weapon. "But it wasn't your fault." It was Cinder's, and Ruby knew Pyrrha knew it deep down as well. Sincline placed a gentle hand on Ruby's shoulder, and she leaned into him, her body sagging against his, trembling with unshed emotion. She couldn't break. Not here. Not while they still had a fight to win.

"She's right," Jaune agreed, joining them with Pyrrha's weapons in hand. "Whoever was on the microphone... she's the one who did this. And we have to make sure she doesn't hurt anyone else." He held out her weapons, and Pyrrha accepted them, grasping them tightly as her eyes flashed with newfound DETERMINATION.

Exchanging nods with Jaune, Sincline turned as the rest of the students lined up, their weapons ready. A loud roar tore through the air, and everyone looked up as dozens of winged Grimm landed on the roof of the stadium. Each of them had the head, wings, and talons of a large predatory bird and the rear legs, tail, and body of a tiger. With black fur and feathers, white bone-like spines on its body, each one had a bone-white beak and four glowing red eyes.

"Griffins," Ren murmured.

"Anybody got a plan of attack?" Neptune asked.

"Just one," Sincline replied, stepping forward as everyone's gaze fell to him. Looking around, his eyes flashed. "Everybody, listen. We have to fight. Grimm have attacked our home. We are the last line of defense standing in their way. I'm not giving up that fight just because a wretched mongrel hiding in the shadows thinks we will. Are you?"

"No," Coco replied.

"Are you?" Sincline asked, turning his gaze to those of Atlas.

Esdeath shook her head, Flynt and Neon doing the same. "No."

"And those of Shade and Haven?"
