It was now Wednesday and the talent show was only two days away. Rodrick was starting to get more and more frustrated. Being home meant that he couldn't get away with humiliating Greg. The only time he would get to hang out with Y/N was at school and during tutoring. And in two days he would have to watch the show he could've been playing in.

Not only that, but his mom was making him spend time with Greg when he got home from school. At least he would Y/N there with him.

When he and Y/N arrived at his house, Mrs. Heffley greeted them at the door. "Greg and Rowley are waiting in the dining room for you."

"What's Rowley doing here?" Rodrick asked as he bent down to untie Y/N's shoes.

"He's here for Greg's campaign. For that Dungeons and Dragons game," said his mother.

"Are you kidding me?" Rodrick asked, getting up from the ground. "So Greg gets to have friends over but the band can't come over?"

"His punishment is almost up," Mrs. Heffley said. "You still have a few more weeks."

"That is so unfair!" Rodrick exclaimed.

His mom ignored him. "Your brother is in the dining room."

Rodrick let out an exasperated sigh and looked up at the ceiling. Something grazed his hand and he looked down. Y/N intertwined her fingers with his and he immediately relaxed. He let her drag him into the dining room where Greg and Rowley sat at the table, setting up Dungeons and Dragons.

Rodrick sat down and frowned. "This is for nerds," he grumbled. He glanced at Y/N. "Weird nerds, not you."

Rowley gave Y/N two character sheets, one for her and one for Rodrick. They filled it out and turned to Greg and Rowley.

"Okay, I'll roll first," said Greg. He shook the dice and threw it onto the table. He looked up to Rodrick. "So, what happens?"

"You and your group of nerds fall into a pit of dynamite which explodes and you all die," he said as he got up from the table and shoved everything onto the floor. "The end." He took Y/N's hand, lifting her off her chair and dragged her out of the dining room.

"Rodrick, maybe you should—"

"No, it's okay," he interjected, leading her into his room. They sat on the bed. "I took notes in math today." He fished out a paper from his jeans pocket. Y/N unfurled it and read all the little jot notes Rodrick had made. She smiled when she saw some little doodles he had made. One of them was two stick figures holding hands, the shorter one labeled: Y/N and the taller one labeled: Me. Surrounding the stick figures were little hearts.

Rodrick realized that the doodles were the paper and took it from her hands. "I— I didn't make those," he muttered. "Ben did. He just tried to make it look like I'm a dork."

Y/N smiled and kissed his cheek. "I think it's sweet."

Rodrick blushed and cleared his throat. "So, should we start with math? Without using my notes though."

Y/N smiled at him and nodded.

An hour later, Mrs. Heffley started calling out to them.

"I have to bring Y/N home," she hollered.

Rodrick groaned. Y/N started to pack up her stuff but Rodrick pulled her into a hug and kissed the top of her head. "Don't go," he mumbled, brushing his fingers through her hair.

"I have to," she said. She pulled away and looked up at him. He gently kissed her, cupping her face with one hand, the other resting on her waist.

"You can stay here. I'll tell Mom you already left," he told her, breaking away from the kiss.

"Rodrick, she knows I'm still here," Y/N said.

He sighed. "Yeah. I know. Maybe I can come to your house instead."

"Rodrick, come on!" his mother called.

Y/N took Rodrick's hand and led him down the stairs. Mrs. Heffley was waiting for them. "Are you coming with us, Rodrick?" she asked. He nodded and they all got into his mom's car. Y/N and Rodrick sat in the back seat together and he did her seatbelt for her before putting on his own. His mom pulled out of the driveway, listening to the radio. Rodrick held Y/N's hand in his and kissed the top of her head.

"So was the session good?" Mrs. Heffley asked.

"Yes," said Y/N and Rodrick in unison.

"And what about Greg's game? Did you have fun playing that?" she asked.

"No, it's too nerdy and complicated. The rules are too confusing," he grumbled. His mother nodded and continued to drive in silence.

Y/N rested her head on Rodrick's shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her waist, occasionally kissing the top of her head.

Then, they arrived at Y/N's house. She undid her seatbelt and turned to Rodrick. "Goodbye," she whispered. She pressed a kiss to his lips. "I love you."

"I love you too," he mumbled.

She opened the car door and climbed out of the back seat. "Bye, Mrs. Heffley, thank you for driving me."

"Of course, sweetheart," she replied.

Y/N shut the door and walked up to her front porch. Before she went inside her house, she waved to Rodrick. Even though he was in the back seat and she couldn't see him, he still waved back.

Author's note: this chapter was based on that little deleted scene where their mom makes rodrick play d&d with greg and rowley because i thought it was cute. now, the next chapter is going to be about the talent show which is like the last bit of rodrick rules meaning that i have to wing the rest of y/n and rodrick's school year sooo i kind of need ideas. i have a few, like them braiding each other's hair and other cute stuff but i would like to include some things that you would like to see. so if you have any ideas, let me know. anyway, have a good day/night. i appreciate you!!
