Y/N woke up early the next morning, realizing what day it was.

Like a child, she hurried out of bed and went downstairs. In the living room, around the tree were an abundance of gifts. She smiled and crouched down next to the tree.

Moments later, Lee joined her in the living room who was followed by her mother.

"Good morning, Y/N," she said with a yawn. "Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas, Mom," she replied.

"Scott will be down in a few minutes. You can start opening your presents now," her mother told her as she went into the kitchen to brew a fresh pot of coffee.

Y/N took everything out of her stocking and presented each item to Lee who gave them all a sniff of approval.

Then she began tearing open her gifts. She got new shirts from her mother, new band posters from Scott, a new book from her grandparents and some new vinyls from both her mother and Scott.

She set all of her things into one pile and started to open Lee's presents for her.

Lee's gifts consisted of a bag of treats, a new ball and a brand new bed.

Once Y/N's mother was finished brewing coffee, Scott descended the stairs and sat down on the couch.

"Good morning, Y/N/N," he said. "Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas," she replied with a smile.

She grabbed one of the gifts under the tree and handed it to him. "Here you go," she said as she sat beside him.

Y/N's mother emerged into the room, holding two cups of coffee. She sat on the other side of Scott and placed his mug on the coffee table. She took a sip of hers while she watched Scott open Y/N's present.

It was a cup that read in bold lettering, 'Dad— a noun. Definition: hardworking, considerate, hilarious and awesome'.

Scott looked up from the cup and met Y/N's eyes. She gazed into his own to see that they were glistening. She wasn't sure if it was just the trick of the light or if he was going to cry.

"Wow," he said. "This is— I love it." He blinked a few times to keep himself from crying.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

He nodded. "It's so true by the way," he said, pointing to the words on the cup. "I'm so awesome."

He and Y/N shared a laugh.

The gift was simple to anyone else but to them, it meant everything. Because regardless of blood, Y/N was Scott's daughter and he was her father.

Half an hour later, they finished with gifts and got ready for the Heffley's Christmas party.

"Ready to go?" Scott asked as he placed his hand on the doorknob.

Y/N nodded as she descended the stairs. She slipped on her shoes and pulled on her jacket.

Y/N's mother scooped Lee up with one arm and held the cookie tin with the other.

Scott opened the door for them and held it open while they stepped outside and hopped into his truck.

Once they all had their seatbelts fastened, Scott started to drive down the street.

Less than ten minutes later, they arrived at the Heffley's house. It took Scott awhile to find a parking spot since there were so many vehicles already outside of the house.

Once they parked, everyone climbed out of the truck and made their way to the front door.

Y/N rang the doorbell and the door opened mere seconds later.
