It was the tenth of February and Y/N had to babysit Greg and Manny. And Rodrick.

Mr. and Mrs. Heffley had a date night planned for their anniversary and they didn't want to leave their youngest sons home alone for a long time with Rodrick in charge. But this benefited Y/N in two ways. She was getting paid and she got to spend time with Rodrick.

"Thank you so much for coming over, Y/N," Mrs. Heffley said as her, Y/N and Mr. Heffley stood in the entryway.

"Of course. Oh, and happy anniversary." Y/N handed them a card along with a box of chocolates. "I didn't know what else to get but—"

"Oh, sweetie, this is perfect," Mrs. Heffley said as she flung her arms around Y/N. She gave her a squeeze and stroked her hair. "We're so grateful to have you. Thank you."

Y/N smiled as Mrs. Heffley pulled away and placed a hand on her cheek.

"I know I'll be enjoying these later," Mr. Heffley said as he lightly shook the box of chocolates.

Mrs. Heffley laughed before pulling on her jacket.

"Thanks, Y/N," he said as he patted her shoulder. "It means a lot."

She nodded with a smile. "Of course."

"We better get going now, hon," Mr. Heffley said to his wife as he opened the door.

"Thank you again, Y/N. Oh, and you know everyone's bedtimes. You and Rodrick can stay up for as long as you'd like just make sure Manny and Greg get to bed on time," Mrs. Heffley told her. "Goodbye, Y/N!"

"Bye!" Y/N said, waving to them as they left.

Once they were gone, Y/N went into Manny's room where he sat on the floor, playing with his dinosaur toys.

"Hey, Manny," she said as she seated herself beside him. "What're you doing?"

"Playing dinosaurs," he replied as he moved two of his toys.

"Cool. What's going on here?" she asked, pointing to the crowd of dinosaur toys bundled together.

"Volcano is coming to get them," he told her.

"Oh," Y/N said with a nod. "So, are they going to get killed by lava or something?"

He nodded. "The lava is going to get them," he said. "See. Boom!"

"Is that the sound of the lava?" Y/N asked.

"Yep. Now they're gone," said Manny. "Bye, bye, dinosaurs." He waved to the dinosaurs on the floor before turning to Y/N. "Can you play?"

"Yeah, sure," Y/N said.

Manny smiled and passed her some of his dinosaurs. Together they played a battle sequence which resulted in all of the toys dying by another volcano eruption. Instead of making a sound effect, Manny used his baby blanket which was held together by literal raisins and boogers to drape over the dinosaurs.

"Do you always use the blanket as lava?" Y/N asked, scooting away from him.

"Tingy!" he corrected.

"Oh, sorry. My mistake. Do you always use tingy as lava?" Y/N asked.

Manny nodded with a smile.

She glanced down at her hands which had been all over his dinosaurs. Then she glanced at Manny's toys which were covered in his blanket. Shit.

Y/N leapt up from the ground and raced into the bathroom to thoroughly wash her hands.

After ten minutes of scrubbing her hands, she went to check in on Greg who was lying on his bed, reading The Hunger Games.
