Y/N's first day was very laid back. She and Heather spent their shift at the pool as lifeguards. Since there was barely anybody swimming, they didn't have to worry about being alert.
What Y/N was happy to learn was that the Jeffersons were members of the country club, meaning that she got occasional visits from Rowley while she was on watch.
"And then Greg was saying that he and I could get water guns and have a big battle," Rowley said to Y/N who was happily nodding along. "He was also saying how we could invite you and Rodrick."
"I'll definitely be there," Y/N told him. "Rodrick might not because he's a party pooper."
Rowley chuckled. "I think that if you ask him, he won't be much of a party pooper."
"That's true," said Y/N.
"He listens to everything you say," Rowley added.
"That's because he knows I'm right," Y/N said. She and Rowley shared a laugh.
"Y/N." She turned to see Heather walking towards her. "It's time to leave."
"Okay, I'll be right there," said Y/N. Heather nodded and Y/N turned to Rowley. "I'm going to Greg's for dinner. Maybe if you want, we can plan that water gun fight."
Rowley's face lit up and he nodded eagerly. "Okay. I'll ask my parents if I can go over." And with that, he scurried off.
Y/N smiled before she started walking away from the pool.
Once she clocked out at the front desk, she made her way to the parking lot where Heather was waiting for her in her car.
"Do you want me to drop you off at your house or at Rodrick's?" Heather asked as Y/N buckled her seatbelt.
"Mine," Y/N replied.
Heather nodded and began driving away from the country club.
During the almost twenty minute drive to her house, Y/N had to endure listening to Heather's playlist which was quite the opposite of what she normally heard while driving with Rodrick.
"See you tomorrow, Y/N," Heather said once she parked outside of Y/N's house.
"Yep. See you tomorrow," said Y/N as she hopped out of Heather's car.
As Y/N walked into her house and she thought of ways to rid the aggravatingly catchy melodies on Heather's playlist from her mind. But she knew that she would be stuck repeating the same lyrics in her mind for a week.
Once she changed into some casual clothes, she plopped down on her bed beside Lee and pulled out her phone, feeling as though she deserved a break with her dog.
As she scrolled through her favourite social media platform, she received a notification from Lexi.
