Chapter Eighty-Five: Escape Room

The next morning, Y/N woke up, ate breakfast and got ready for the day. Once she was finished with her routine, she messaged Rodrick.

Y/N: Good morning :)
Y/N: I can hang out whenever you're ready

She shut off her phone, expecting it to be awhile before she got a reply.

But to her surprise, Rodrick texted her back mere seconds after.

doofus<33: i'll be there right away

She smiled, feeling pleased that he was so eager to hang out with her.

Y/N skipped her way down the stairs before sitting down on the bottom step. Lee ran over to her and laid down by her feet. Y/N smiled and gently patted the dog's head.

Minutes passed and there was a knock on the door.

Y/N leapt to her feet and swung the door open to see Rodrick, smiling down at her. He looked incredibly happy as if today was the best day of his life.

And it was one of the best days of his life. Y/N had been sick for way too long and he was finally going to spend the day with her.

He pulled her into a hug and smiled when he saw Lee running over to them. He let go of Y/N and bent down to pat the dog's head. "Aww. Hi, Shredder."

Lee licked Rodrick's hand, causing him to chuckle. He gave her one more pat before standing up and smiling at Y/N. "Ready?" he asked. She nodded and he took her hand.

Rodrick led Y/N over to his van which was parked in her driveway. He opened the passenger door for her and she climbed in. Then he hopped into the driver's seat. Before he backed out of Y/N's driveway, he made sure her seatbelt was fastened.

As he drove down the street, Rodrick kept glancing over at Y/N with a bright smile on his face. He was so incredibly happy that she was right there next to him.

"Where would you like to go?" he asked her.

"That's up to you," Y/N replied with a smile.

"Don't you have a place in mind?" Rodrick asked. "I mean, you were pretty much locked up in your house with nothing to do. There has to be somewhere you want me to take you."

"Rodrick, I'm not good at making decisions," Y/N said quietly.

He nodded. "I know," he mumbled. His eyes scanned all of the signs along the road. He took a turn when one of them caught his eye.

Y/N furrowed her brows slightly when she realized they were pulling up to the mall. "Rodrick, I don't think any of the stores you like are open."

When he parked, he quickly hopped out of the van and walked over to the passenger side to open Y/N's door for her. He unfastened her seatbelt and held out his hand. She gave him a puzzled look before placing her palm in his and climbing out of the vehicle.

Rodrick escorted Y/N into the practically empty mall and led her over to the food court. The only things that were open were the little kiosks that served breakfast foods including Booster Juice.

Rodrick glanced at Y/N, a small grin tugging at his lips. He ushered her over to one of the round tables in the food court and pulled out her chair for her before walking over to Booster Juice.

When he came back moments later, he handed her a smoothie and sat beside her.

"Thank you," she mumbled as she took a sip.

He smiled at her fondly. "Anything for you."

She mirrored his expression before glancing around. "Hot Topic should be open soon," she told him as she caught sight of the store. She turned to him. "We can go there if you want."
