you lay in bed asleep, the duvet wrapped around you. you'd been sleeping a lot lately as you missed your best friend who you also had the worlds biggest crush on, he'd left beacon hills without telling anyone where he was going- not even you or scott.

scott told you that he could easily find him but he knew his best friend didn't want to be found. no one knew why he left and that's what broke your heart the most because he used to tell you everything.

unaware of what was happening as you were asleep the bed suddenly dipped next to you, the empty space on your double bed was filled by a messy-haired stiles.

you rolled over as you felt the presence of someone next to you and you rubbed your eyes to see who it was, "stiles?" you asked as your eyes were adjusting to the dark.

"yeh?" stiles replied as he turned to face you.

"you came back." a smile lit up your face as you moved closer to him and wrapped your arms around his chest, he smelled like the forest and you wondered where he'd been but those questions could wait until the morning.

"i did." he said quietly as he ran his fingers through your hair soothingly.

the two of you lay together all night, bodies pressed against each other until the blinding sun shone through your blinds. you squinted as you opened your eyes, realising there was an empty space next to you where stiles had been you immediately sat up and looked around.

getting out of bed, you made your way downstairs. you heard plates being clattered in the kitchen and you rushed down the last few steps and into the kitchen, "stiles?"

you saw stiles setting out plates on the kitchen table, along with the smell of pancakes filling the room.

"morning, y/n... hope you don't mind, i made breakfast." he smiled nervously, piling pancakes onto the plates.

"i don't mind." you said quietly, sitting down opposite him.

there was a few minutes of silence as you both ate until stiles cleared his throat, "i'm sorry for leaving, y/n... i owe you an explanation."

you didn't say anything, you nodded as you waited for him to continue.

"all of this supernatural stuff just got too much... and i had to clear my head, i felt like i was constantly on the edge of breaking down. i just couldn't deal with it anymore, but then i realised my friends need me... you need me." he said the last part quietly but you heard it and you felt an ache in your heart.

"where did you go?" you asked, avoiding his eye contact as you focused on your pancakes.

"lydia's lake house... she doesn't know i was there, i kind of have a key." he admitted, you noticed he seemed to have a key for everything which was slightly weird.

"oh." you replied, not knowing what else to say.

"y/n... i really am sorry, i shouldn't have left you like that." he sighed, he reached out and took hold of your hand causing you to look over at him as his whiskey brown eyes gazed at you.

"well, you did." you said, you couldn't be angry at him but you still didn't forgive him entirely.

"y/n..." he whined.

"stiles... you really hurt me by leaving... because i'm in love with you," you admitted suddenly, stiles looked taken aback but he waited for you to finish, "and even if you don't feel the same way i do, at least as friends i want you to know that you can always tell me anything because i want to help you."

"y/n..." he squeezed your hand lightly, "i love you too."

"please don't say that if you don't mean it, stiles." you sighed.

"but i do mean it, i just didn't tell you because i didn't think you felt the same way..." you watched as his cheeks burned red as he blushed.

you took hold of his other hand and squeezed it, "please don't leave like that again."

"i won't, i promise." he said quietly before he reached up and caressed your cheek, you leaned against his hand as he rubbed his thumb over your cheek soothingly.
