"I guess this is it, buddy." Stiles sighed solemnly as he held the silver, metal bat in his hands. He thought back to the times he'd used it to save his life or when his friends had used it. Scott had brandished the bat on the night Stiles hung upside down to tell him about the body in the woods, then his girlfriend, Lydia, had used it to defend herself when her and Mason where in trouble.

It had been one of his only ways to defend himself, he didn't play baseball but it was one of his most prized possessions as he remembered just when he'd gotten the bat.

"Stiles?" His mom called him from the kitchen and young Stiles scrambled into the room.

"Yes, mom?" He asked breathlessly.

"I know you mentioned how you wanted to join the baseball team, so me and your father brought you this." She smiled sweetly at her son as she removed the bat that she was hiding from behind her back, Stiles' eyes opened widely as he saw the bat in his mothers hands.

Since then he'd treasured it, it'd even saved his life numerous times.

But now it was time to pass on the baton, or the bat in this case, to another defenceless boy who would soon need something to help him against the supernatural in the town of Beacon Hills.

Scott chuckled next to Stiles, "talking to your bat again, Stiles?"

"Shut up, Scott," He hissed, then he smiled widely when he caught Masons eye as Liam and Mason stood in front of him, "Mason, I want you to have this."

"But it's yours?" Mason shook his head, confused.

"I want you to have it." Stiles said as he held out the bat to Mason.

"You might need it-" Mason started to say but Stiles raised his eyebrows.

"That's not the point, I won't need it where I'm going. Take it." He said, placing the bat in Mason's hands.

His faithful bat would now serve its true purpose of protecting the people of Beacon Hills once more.
