he's visiting you at the hospital after you were hurt in a supernatural fight, he couldn't stop blaming himself for not being there for you.
melissa had told him to talk to you since you'd be able to hear him, but you were unlikely to respond, and so he did... but he let out more than he'd planned to say.
"since you can't respond i guess i can tell you that i've been in love with you for years now... and i regret not telling you sooner... i just didn't want to ruin our friendship if you didn't feel the same way but now i realise that i've been a fool for not telling you."
you could hear everything he said, but you couldn't find your voice to reply, instead you simply squeezed his hand as he held yours.
"y/n?" stiles said softly, "can you hear me? squeeze my hand again if you can."
you did, and he let out a sigh of relief.
"oh thank god." he said.
you managed to open your eyes slightly, looking at the boy who sat besides your bed everyday whilst you were there. mustering all the strength you could, you told him what you'd always wanted to tell him.
"i love you too, stiles."
