The sun had only just began to rise when you woke up extremely early, 5:00am to be exact.

It was your boyfriends birthday and you had a plan to make it an amazing day for him, but you had to drive into the city to grab a few supplies first.

You scribbled a short note and left it on your pillow in case he woke up, but it was unlikely since he was a deep sleeper.

Pulling on some skinny jeans and a plain white t-shirt, you grabbed your purse and phone before creeping out of the house and getting into your car.

Half an hour later you parked in the parking lot of a large supermarket and got out of your car, heading inside. You were mentally preparing yourself to quickly grab everything you needed as you picked up a basket and started making your way down each aisle.

Firstly, you had to get the fresh ingredients you wanted to make his birthday cake, then everything else was simple things like a bag of confetti and candles, etc.

After paying for everything you had to make a stop somewhere else to get the present you'd been dying to buy but it was hard to find. The shop owner knew how desperately you wanted this certain gift and promised he'd try his best to find it in time for his birthday.

Luckily the store opened up early as the owner knew you'd be there early. As you walked inside he greeted you with a warm smile.

"Good morning, y/n! Guess what just arrived?" The owner smiled and reached behind the counter for a large, flat, rectangular box.

"Is it the exact one?" You asked, worried it might be different than what you wanted.

"Yes, of course! It's the special edition, just like you asked." He said, laying it flat on the counter.

You took out your purse and handed him the money for it, it was a pretty expensive gift but for your boyfriend it was worth it.

"Thank you so much." You smiled before picking up the parcel and making your way back to your car.

You put the parcel into the boot and got into your car, driving back home.

Once you were back home you carried the parcel in first and placed it in the living room along with the card you'd brought a few weeks ago.

Next you brought all of the food inside and got to work baking the cake, red velvet, of course.

The clock showed that the time was now 7:00am and you guessed your boyfriend would be up soon. By this time the cake was nearly done so you took it out of the oven and tidied up before getting changed into something nicer upstairs.

Luckily he still hadn't woken up so you managed to get changed into a summery dress, put your makeup on and go downstairs without him noticing.

The cake had cooled down now so you added the finishing touches, icing and candles, etc, before sprinkling a little bit of confetti over the kitchen table.

Everything was finally done so now all you had to do was wait for Dylan to wake up, fortunately you didn't have to wait long.

You heard someone wandering about upstairs before light footsteps padded downstairs.

"Y/n?" Dylan called out.

Your heart skipped a beat upon hearing his voice, "I'm here." You called back.

The door to the living room opened and Dylan walked in, his hair was ruffled but he was wearing a new t-shirt and black jeans.

His face lit up when he saw you, his lips curling into your favourite lopsided smile.

"Happy birthday, baby." You smiled, rushing over to him and wrapping him in a hug.

He lifted you up and swirled you around, "thank you, sweetheart... I missed waking up to you this morning."

"I'm sorry, but I think I can make up for that..." you said as you turned around and looked towards the large box laying on the floor.

"Is that for me?" He asked with a large, childish grin on his face.

"Of course it's for you." You laughed lightly.

"Can I?" He asked as he walked towards the gift.

"Yes!" You said, wondering to the sofa and sitting down as he kneeled on the floor.

"Can I get a clue?" He asked as he began opening it.

"No!" You laughed, watching as he struggled to open it.

He finally opened the top and his eyes widened, "oh my god..."

He pulled out a large frame with a jersey hung inside, but not just any jersey. It was a Mets jersey worn by his favourite player, it was even signed. There were only two that existed and you'd gone to different shops, charity shops, pawn shops, in hope to find one. Luckily the owner of the one you visited frequently came across it and ordered it to his shop for you.

"No way! Y/n... I can't believe this..." he said in awe, his eyes were filled tears.

"I know you love the Mets and this guy is your favourite player so..." you shrugged, sending him a smile.

"This is the best present ever, y/n... thank you so much." Dylan got up as you stood too, he wrapped his arms around you and pressed a kiss against your forehead.

"Anything for you, Dyl." You smiled, resting your head against his chest.

"Have you been baking?" He asked suddenly as the aroma of cake batter filled his nostrils.

"Maybe." You smiled up at him.

He took hold of your hand and led you through to the kitchen, he couldn't stop smiling at the thought of everything you'd done for him, "wow, y/n." He exclaimed as he spotted the cake you made and the confetti.

He turned to you and took hold of both of your hands, "you really are the best girlfriend, and best friend, anyone could ask for, y/n... and I'm extremely glad that I can call you mine."

"You deserve the world, Dylan, it's the least I could do for you." You smiled, looking up at him into those honey, brown eyes.

"I love you so much, y/n. I really do." He said softly, rubbing his thumbs over the back of your hands.

"I love you too, Dylan." You replied before stepping onto your tiptoes and kissing his lips gently.

The rest of his birthday was spent together until that evening when you'd organised for the both of you to meet up with his family for dinner at his favourite restaurant.

Dylan couldn't stop staring at you the whole night as you were wearing a short, silk dress. At one point of the evening when his family were distracted he leaned over and placed his hand on your thigh, "I cannot wait until we get home and I can rip that dress off of you." He whispered.

Your eyes widened slightly, then you turned to him and smirked, "I promise I'll make the wait worth it."

He couldn't keep his eyes off of you for the rest of the night, and as promised when you both arrived home it was a night he'd never forget.
