Chapter 13 - Confrontations

Yo woke early the next morning, had a shower, dressed for school and waited at the door. He listed carefully for his neighbour to leave her room. He had thought carefully on things the night before and even had a great excuse to approach her with. He wasn't going to knock on her door. That would open up a world of issues he didn't want to deal with but if he accidentally caught her in the hallway, that was another matter altogether.

He heard sounds and causally opened his door. Yep. There she was looking as beautiful as ever. Yo closed his door then turned and wai. 

"Morning P'Pring. You look as beautiful as ever."

She froze then turned to his with a blank took. "Ah. Thank you Nong."

He watched her lock her door before he tried again. "Ming and I were hoping to speak to you. We were wondering if you got his messages?"

She walked right past Yo as thought he hadn't said a word but this new Yo was a different beast. He was a little fore self assured, a little more confident, and he now understood the value of taking initiative. 

"P'Pring? Please stop and speak to me. P'!"

She stopped suddenly and turned around. "I dislike you. Don't you get it. I hate you leave me alone."

"What does that have to do with Ming's project?"

"Because he did it for you. Isn't that obvious? He wouldn't have done it otherwise."

"Yes he would. If it hadn't been me it could have been someone else. Ming would have taken a stand then too. That's just the kind of guy he is."

"What a bunch of shit. Everyone's defending you know but I can see why you got attacked. You just rub up on every man you know don't you. A slutty little bitch. Leave me alone or I swear I will scream."

Yo was utterly shocked at her animosity. "I don't mind that you hate me for being with Pha but I have never..."

She launched into a loud scream and kept it up as doors opened and neighbours came out in different stages of dress.

"What the fuck is going on?!" Some half awake guy roared.

"He tried to attack me!" She said tearfully and pointed at Yo. Yo's eyes and mouth dropped open in shock.

"That's a load of bullshit. I was listening to the conversation behind my door this whole time. He wasn't even close to you." Everyone turned to the speaker. Yo had no clue who he was.

"What's going one here?" Pha's voice cut through the crowd. "Yo?"

"I'm right here P'Pha." He called softly then looked at Pring again. "I'm sorry that I bothered you about Ming."

"What's going on?" Pha came through the crowd and stood looking at both sides. Yo looked shocked and hurt. Pring just looked pissed.

"Yo tried to talk to her about joining Nong Ming's Safe Campus project. Apparently he has trying to reach Pring. She overreacted." The guy spoke again.

"That's an understatement. She was a bitch." Someone said from the crowd. "She accused him of attacking her. Yo has never been anything but sweet." Yo caught the voice now. It was Ai'Bee. She was a couple of doors down from Pring. They chatted often and she liked to share snacks.

Pring's face slowly morphed into an ugly mask. She clenched her fists and would have started raging but Pha stopped her with some cautious words.

"Please be careful about what you may say from here on. Yo will not bother you again since you have made your position clear. I am surprised at your reaction. Maybe you are overwhelmed by your studies and need a break. Consider who you are and make the right decisions from now on."
