(3 Years Later)

The 22nd World Tournament had rolled around at last. Goku had gone on his own personal training journey, just like Yamcha had, and now he had arrived to meet up with the others. He gave Krillin a huge hug and they both laughed. Master Roshi, Bulma, Puar and Launch all smiled. Goku cut off his embrace and seemed confused. "Hey, where's Yamcha?" The others all told the truth: they didn't know. Yamcha had been gone for quite some time. Puar was nearly beating herself up over Yamcha going away for so long, and Bulma had been sulking for a long while.

The gang was about to give up on him when suddenly Launch noticed something and pointed towards it. "Hey, look! What's that?" Everyone followed Launch's finger, and they saw a huge dust cloud approaching. Goku, Krillin, and Master Roshi all took their fighting stances while Bulma, Launch, and Puar backed up, when suddenly the dust cloud reached them and dispersed. Yamcha appeared at the sign-up desk, wrote his name down, then walked over, grinning. "Yo, guys! What's up?"

Bulma wasn't sure whether to feel angry or happy, so she settled for slapping Yamcha and shouting "Where have you BEEN?!" Yamcha laughed nervously, rubbing his face. "Ah, well, y'see..." Bulma gave him a bone-crushing hug. "Oh, Yamcha, I missed you!" Yamcha was suddenly also hugged on the face by Puar, who looked like she was about to cry. "I missed you, too!" Everyone else laughed as Yamcha stumbled around, attempting to get Bulma and Puar off of him. After he managed to, Yamcha walked over to Goku, Krillin, and Master Roshi. Master Roshi chuckled. "Good to see you, Yamcha. See any pretty girls during your travels?" Yamcha laughed, rolling his eyes. "Maybe, but none as pretty as Bulma." He looked over at her and saw her face turn bright red. Bulma smiled as she blushed, and Yamcha's expression became thoughtful. "I wonder if Jackie Chun will be participating in this tournament." As he said that, he winked twice very quickly at Master Roshi, who smiled knowingly. "He'll probably show up."

(Later That Day)

Yamcha looked towards his opponent, a man with a large mohawk, as the man broke a couple of boards. "Hey, buddy: boards don't fight back." The man scowled and went back to practicing. "You won't when I'm throttling you, kid!" Yamcha just grinned. "Heh heh. Guess we'll see about that."

Suddenly, Jackie Chun appeared, and Yamcha greeted him: "Huh? Oh, Jackie. Good to see you." Jackie nodded. "Likewise, Yamcha. I see you're still as confident as ever." Yamcha smiled. "There's a good reason for that." Suddenly, the announcer spoke: "Next up is the winner of the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, Yamcha!" Yamcha took pride in hearing his name after the title, but he quickly dismissed it. I can't get cocky. Ever. No matter who it is that I'm facing. He stepped onto the fighting stage and faced the mohawked fighter, cracking his neck muscles.

The man took a fighting stance and took a step forward, but Yamcha simply stood casually. The man shuffled forward again, then began to crouch when in a split second Yamcha appeared in front of him and punched him in the chin, knocking him out with one blow. The man fell off the preliminary fighting stage in a heap, unconscious but not severely hurt. Yamcha looked down at the man and smirked, raising an eyebrow. "So what were you saying about throttling me?"

Once Yamcha hopped off of the fighting stage, Goku ran up to him and looked up at his friend. "Whoa! That was amazing, Yamcha! You must have trained really hard!" Yamcha laughed, blushing a little from embarrassment. "Yeah, I guess so." Suddenly, Tien walked up in his Crane School uniform. "You won the last tournament? Your opponents must've been scum." Yamcha turned towards Tien. "Oh, yeah? Don't count on that- I'll have you know that I'm actually a pretty formidable warrior." Tien smirked. "You had a clear chance to deliver a crushing blow, yet you simply knocked him out." Yamcha scoffed. "I don't feel like being overly harsh with my opponents. You'll see what I'm capable of just fine when I'm stomping you." Tien chuckled. "Ha! I'd like to see you try." "Just wait until the quarterfinals, triclops." Yamcha muttered under his breath, "Then you'll see."
