Everyone headed to The Lookout and prepared to summon Shenron- at least, most of them, as Krillin was watching over an unconscious Android 18. Gohan gathered up all 7 Dragon Balls and summoned Shenron, and the group used up their first two wishes. Then, Gohan stepped forward and prepared to make the third wish- and Yamcha knew what it was going to be.

"Shenron, please revive my dad!" Shenron was about to grant the wish when he paused. "Your father, Son Goku, does not want to be wished back. However, he would like to speak with you." Suddenly, Goku shimmered into existence, a halo over his head and white wings on his back. Yamcha turned and only spoke one word: "Why?"

Goku grinned apologetically. "Sorry. Tell Chi-Chi that I can't come back. The Earth will be safer with me gone. Anyway, take care, guys." Yamcha walked up and held up his fist. Goku bumped it, and they both embraced.

Then, Gohan ran forward. "But, Dad-" "Son, I know. I'll miss you, too. But this is for the best." Gohan looked down sadly, but Goku knelt and placed a hand on his son's shoulder. "Hey, now, Gohan. You did awesome out there. I couldn't be more proud." Gohan looked up, his eyes welling with tears, but he nodded. "Y-Yeah. I'll keep... I'll keep Earth safe." Goku nodded. "I know you will."

Goku gave Gohan a huge hug, then turned towards Yamcha. "Yamcha, would you help protect the Earth for a while?" Yamcha smiled reassuringly, nodding. "Anything for you, G-man." Goku grinned. "You and the others'll do fine. I know it." Krillin came out and raced forward, giving Goku a hug. "I'll miss you! We're still best friends, right?" Goku nodded. "Always."

Piccolo nodded, and Goku nodded back. "Piccolo, I know that we started out as enemies, but it's been a great ride." Piccolo grinned just the tiniest bit. "Likewise." Goku looked around. "Where's Vegeta?" Everyone told him the truth- Vegeta had flown off on his own after the battle with Cell was over.

Goku sighed and turned towards Marorizu, who raised an eyebrow. "Got something to say, Kakarot?" Goku smiled. "You never change, Marorizu. Take care." Marorizu smirked. "The guy who got himself killed twice is telling me to be careful? Alright." Everyone laughed, and Trunks stepped forward.

"Goku, you've given me hope for the future. Thank you." Goku nodded, and Tien and Chiaotzu both came up. Tien smiled. "Goku, this time as friends and comrades has been amazing. You changed my life, and Chiaotzu's, too." Chiaotzu beamed. "You sure did! Thank you so much!" Goku laughed. "Thanks, everyone. Anyway, I'd best be off now." He began to rise into the clouds, but as he flew away, he turned and waved. "Bye, guys! Let's meet again, after you die! Stay strong, and stay safe!" Then, Goku flew away into the clouds, eventually vanishing.

Everyone stared at the clouds for a long while, until finally Yamcha smiled. "We'll see him again soon." Gohan looked over. "You mean, when we die?" Yamcha shook his head. "Well, sure, maybe. But I have a feeling that we'll meet up with Goku again sometime sooner than that." Krillin looked back up at the clouds. "Y'know... I feel like Yamcha's right." Yamcha peered towards the clouds as the sun peeked over them, shining down on the gang. And even though his old friend had just left, Yamcha had to smile.
