Chapter 109: The Greatest Showdown Of All Time (Part 1)

Goku's hair stopped glowing white and it looked normal, except it was silver and flowing as if caught in a breeze. It was the same with his eyebrows. Jiren struggled to stand up. "The real fight starts now, Jiren." Goku said. "Son Goku...!" Jiren growled. They stared each other down for a few moments. Then, in a flash of light so fast that it was barely able to be followed by even the eyes of the Z Fighters, Goku blasted past Jiren straight through a rock, the latter of which exploded. There was a small cut on Jiren's cheek, and from that cut came a drop of blood. As Goku turned to face Jiren, Jiren clenched his teeth, wiping away the blood. "Is that the speed of the complete Ultra Instinct?!" Piccolo exclaimed. "That godliness. It's magnificent! Goku can win with this!" Supreme Kai said in a happy voice. "So what about Ultra Instinct?!" Belmod demanded, "Jiren won't lose. No matter what!" "Don't get cocky just because you've powered up!" Jiren said, charging at Goku. He threw two punches. Goku dodged. He threw a sweeping kick at Goku's legs. Goku dodged by jumping over Jiren. Jiren turned and threw a chop. Goku dodged with a backflip. He stood up as Jiren attacked him again and began clashing with him- or more accurately, as Jiren tried to attack and Goku began to wreck him. After a few moments of clashing in which Jiren was clearly struggling while Goku was apparently unfazed, Jiren tried to throw a punch, which Goku caught, following that up with a kick to the stomach. And judging from Jiren's shout of pain, it was a heavy kick. Jiren leaped into the air and held up both hands, charging up a large, red energy orb and hurling it at Goku, who held out one hand and blasted the ball apart with his own blue energy blast. "He cancelled it out?!" Jiren exclaimed. 

Jiren rushed at Goku and Goku went forward to meet him. After some more clashing, Goku kneed Jiren in the gut, uppercutted him in the jaw, kicked him in the head, and attempted to punch him in the face, which Jiren barely blocked, although he still went skidding backwards. Jiren held out one hand and began firing energy blasts at a rapid pace. Goku continued to dodge everything, then jumped over an exploding Power Impact blast and landed like a superhero, racing up to Jiren while evading more energy blasts. After Jiren tried to press another offensive, Goku landed a hard punch to the Pride Trooper's gut and sent him flying into a boulder so hard that Jiren was lying in a crater. He climbed out and faced Goku, panting. "No... I won't lose... I can't lose! Strength is justice! Strength is absolute! All is meaningless without victory. To lose is to have everything taken away from you. Just like then..." Jiren seemed to be recalling his past trauma. "I won't go through that ever again!" Suddenly, Jiren began powering up. The top portion of his Pride Trooper uniform was shredded as he began to increase his energy more and more. His aura was spreading outward, like wisps of red and yellow fire. When Jiren stepped out from the erupting flames, there was a glow like that of Ultra Instinct's aura, except it was red. Jiren and Goku stood, watching each other, for a few moments. Then Jiren charged forward and began clashing with Goku again, except this time they seemed even. Finally, Jiren threw a punch which Goku caught. "No matter what, I will never lose!" Jiren declared. Suddenly, Jiren's fist began to glow red, and he fired a Power Impact, sending Goku flying backwards. Goku quickly got back up as Jiren fired another Power Impact, and the Saiyan jumped out of the way as Jiren fired a storm of energy blasts at Goku, who raised his arms and crossed them to guard. Once the barrage of blasts stopped, Goku looked up to see Jiren leaping into the air. Jiren held out one hand and fired yet another Power Impact, and Goku fired a Super Kamehameha to counter it. 

At first, the beam struggle seemed like it could go any one way. But then the Power Impact began to slowly push back Goku's Kamehameha until the Kamehameha was cancelled out and the Power Impact enveloped Goku. "It's over!" Jiren said, clenching his outstretched fist. The Power Impact exploded, with the explosion spreading out for quite a distance. But once the explosion ceased and a smoke cloud went up, the smoke swirled into a circle and then dispersed, with what looked like a blue twinkling star charging at Jiren. As the blue twinkle neared it became bigger and bigger and solidified from a blurry person into Goku, still with his Mastered Ultra Instinct form. Goku and Jiren began a strength grapple. "You still have this much strength left? Persistent bastard!" Jiren said. Goku kneed Jiren in the gut, but Jiren tried to kick him in the face. Goku blocked it, but he still went skidding backwards. Goku fired an energy blast which Jiren deflected back towards him. As Goku went flying, Jiren appeared above him and slammed him in the back with both hands. Goku went tumbling down towards the stage, but Jiren hadn't finished- he fired a Power Impact in the form of a red energy beam into Goku's back, speeding up the Saiyan's descent until Goku crashed into the floor. A dust cloud went up into the air. Jiren landed in front of the smoke and watched. When the dust finally parted, Goku was shown to be lying face-first in a crater. While he still had the Mastered Ultra Instinct form, he wasn't moving. "Oh, no!" Beerus shouted. "It's not over yet, is it?! No matter what, no matter the danger, you've always sprung back! You'll definitely be able to defeat Jiren! I believe in you, so get up, Goku!" Krillin yelled. Goku's left hand began twitching, and then he began trying to raise his head. Eventually, after a few tense moments, Goku got back up.
