|Chapter 7|

Parking his car on the side of the road, Derek pulled off his jacket and then opened the small container that had the green colored paste inside. The herb scented paste wafted into his nose, somewhat soothing him for a moment before he flinched at the pain coming from his arm.

He glanced down at the hole in his arm where he was shot and took some of the paste onto his finger before rubbing it over the wound.

He watched in slight fascination as the wound began to close up, bringing him relief as the pain he felt had disappeared. Derek soon realized that Imogen Lewis was not a normal girl like he had once believed.

He needed answers. But at the moment his priorities lied with the alpha and the hunters.

The two sat awkwardly at the dinner table across from each other as Ben quietly eyed the two while they ate in silence. After Imogen and Scott had both finished making out, the two had decided to actually study since Scott really needed to bring up his grades. At some point while they were lying in her bed as she showed him what he needed to fix, the two had fallen asleep and that was how Ben had found the two when he came home.

It was awkward to say the least.

Once they finished eating, Ben glanced at his niece. "Imogen, why don't you go get Scott's backpack and bring it down for him."

"Okay." She pursed her lips, sending him a warning look before she sent Scott a faint reassuring smile as she went up to her room to get his bag. Scott watched her leaving and tried to not squirm under her Uncle's hard gaze.

"I don't want to sound like an overprotective uncle, Scott..." Ben started, getting the younger man's look. "But I don't think that I have to warn you that if you hurt my niece..."

"I won't." Scott said bluntly and he eyed him unsurely. "I know it may seem sudden or maybe a little crazy but I care strongly about Imogen and the last thing I would ever want to do is hurt her. She's become an important person in my life and I don't want to ruin what we have."

Ben gave him a hard stare. "You may not want to hurt her but you could always do it unintentionally."

Scott tried to not flinch at how his words hurt him. The teen wolf knew that there was always the possibility that he could end up hurting Imogen especially because of what he was but that's exactly why he was working hard on gaining control.

He didn't want to not only risk hurting her but his mom and Stiles who were also people he didn't want to hurt.

He held back a sigh of relief when he saw Imogen walking down the stair holding his bag. "Here you go." She muttered, eyeing her uncle who only gave her an innocent smile.

"It was nice meeting you, Scott." Ben said, shaking the teenager's hand while also giving him an intimidating stare. "Although I do hope the next time I see isn't in my niece's bedroom."

"Uncle Ben." Imogen gave him a look of annoyance and he raised his arms in surrender and walked away. She turned to her boyfriend and gave him an apologetic look. "I'm really sorry about today."

"It's okay." He reassured her, holding her hand and she gave him a grateful look before leaning up to kiss him. He stopped her when he felt eyes on them and saw Ben was narrowing his eyes at the. "Uh.... Im, your uncle is staring."

The blue eyed girl glanced back at her uncle before looking at her boyfriend with an amused smile on her lips. "That's fine. I know he may seem like he's scary and mean but he's actually a huge teddy bear on the inside."
