Newt // Connected (Epilogue) *REQUEST*

* I hope you all enjoyed this mini series and here is the ending! It's short and not very good but it needed closer! *

Every morning started the same: I woke earlier than the boys and the girls, got ready with all my gear, and met my friends by the kitchen for breakfast.

The merge was decided that day in the Glade. The girls would go into the Glade so our Field was left abandoned, not without taking our stuff with us. It was a tight fit at first, but we made it work and now everyone lives together peacefully.

There was the initial adjustment period when neither the boys nor the girls thought what the other was doing was right, but thanks to the now 4 leaders, it was easier for everyone to compromise.

There was also another issue that was addressed: relationships. The Field had a few openly gay girls who happened to fall for another girl so relationships weren't unknown to us. However now that there were guys and girls, relationships were way more common.

Boys were trying to show off in front of the girls, especially the Runners, and the girls were flirting way more than anyone had ever seen them before. Alby and Abby were worried at first, but decided that as long as work gets done, then this could work out.

Because the Fielders moved to the Glade, we lost our entire collection of maps for our maze and had to start all over. The Runners helped a lot and were given a Fielder as a partner to show them the new maze.

Everyone was given almost their exact old job, minus a few including me. I didn't want to run this new maze so Abby let me switch. I work in the gardens now with Newt so I have more time to spend with my friends.

"Hey, (Y/N)," Newt said suddenly as we worked in the gardens. We worked alongside each other everyday and all day to where we have become best friends.

"Yes Newt?" I asked, stopping my work to give him my full attention.

He set his shovel down and walked closer to me, taking both of my dirty hands into his even dirtier ones. "Do you want to know my favorite part of this merge?"

"What?"

A shy smile took over his face as he pushed a piece of hair from my eyes. "This," and with that, he leaned in to press his lips to mine. I was shocked for a moment before I melted into his kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck while his slipped to hold my back, pulling me closer into his chest.

He smiled into the kiss, causing me to smile back until the two of us couldn't kiss anymore. Our eyes fluttered open with goofy smiles on our faces. I buried my face in his neck so he couldn't see it and tightened our arms around each other.

I was really glad for the merge because I got out of it new friends, a new life and a new boyfriend. The maze wasn't easy, but we hoped this new Glade could make it actually livable. And who knows, maybe we could find the way out of here.
