Thank you for being patient with me and I hope you like it *Thomas sat impatiently in the large limo taking him to the London premiere of the final installment of The Maze Runner series, the Death Cure. He had gone to many, many premieres in his adult life yet this one was the most nerve-wracking of them all, only because his timer was almost up.
In this world, everyone is born with a set of numbers tattooed on their wrists, a timer counting down to the exact moment they will meet their soulmate. Thomas had lived his entire life watching the timer tick down for years, since he was one of the unlucky ones who wouldn't meet his soulmate until well into his twenties. Although now it felt good that he would meet her when he was older because he thought it was the perfect time to find someone and settle down without all the hassle of making a movie series.
Thomas was extremely excited, having heard hundred different variations of the same story but today he would finally be living it out rather than watching it or hearing it. This was his fairytale moment.
As they approached the venue, his stomach churned when he noticed the timer had drastically decreased since the last time he looked at it. Ten minutes and twenty five seconds. Twenty four seconds. Twenty three. Twenty two.
Time couldn't seem to move any faster for the young actor. He was desperate to rush those minutes until he could see the girl of his dreams, the girl specifically crafted by fate to complement him and be with him for all eternity. He was finally ready.
The entire car ride consisted of him nervously texting both his best friend and co-star Dylan who both were attempting to calm him down enough to stop his racing thumbs from blowing up their cellphones. When it came time to exit the limo, he surrendered the phone and put on a brave face to take in the screaming girls. As he did so, he noticed the time had changed to four minutes and twelve seconds. Eleven. Ten.
He was used the screaming fans so it didn't affect him too much as he climbed out of the limo. He had been done up with a fancy suit tailored especially for this night and his long hair, which was longer than he would have like, was styled perfectly atop his head. He looked handsome but all he wanted to do was impress the girl he was to meet in exactly four minutes.
Thomas sauntered down the red carpet, remembering what every agent and manager had told him since he was young to act like he owned the place, which wasn't too hard considering the girls would scream at him no matter what pose or style he walked in.
He easily made it possible to smile at every camera and fan while still glancing down at his timer every few seconds. Three minutes and four seven seconds. Forty six. Forty five.
He was closer to the end of the carpet when he realized how much time had actually gone by, but now his heart was racing in his chest and his palms were filling with sweat. His timer was in the seconds now. In less than a minute, he would finally come face-to-face with the love of his life.
In his moment of panic, he wouldn't have noticed Dylan running up behind him if it weren't for the high pitched screams from the fangirls. He immediately lost his typical chill attitude when he knew his friend was right there.
"Dylan, what do I do? I'm gonna meet her in," he glanced back at his wrist and gasped when he saw the number, "thirty nine seconds and I don't know what to say. What did you do when you met Britt?"
Dylan had never seen Thomas like this before. He was also the quiet and chill one of the cast who rarely spoke and kept to himself more than anything. Thomas didn't look like himself right now.
"Hey, calm down, man. You're gonna know what to say when it happens. Trust me. She's your soulmate, you could cry and she'd still love you, alright?" Thomas nodded and took deep breaths to calm his racing heart. "This is one of the best moments of your life. Don't mess it up because you're too nervous."
Thomas trusted what Dylan said and turned back to the fans to sign some autographs as he waited for the timer to run out. As nervous as he was, this was, as Dylan said, supposed to be one of the best moments of his life so he was beyond excited to finally find the girl he had been waiting 27 years for.
Time had flown by once again and while he was in the middle of signing an autograph, a pain lit up the back of his hand, almost like the feeling of static electricity shocking him. Looking up, he saw the most beautiful pair of (Y/E/C) eyes he had ever seen.
Everything around him seemed to fade away, as if the fans and cameras had all disappeared and it was just him and this girl on the other side of the divider. She was gorgeous in his eyes, her (Y/H/l) hair styled in curls around her face and her shirt with his famous line, "Great, we're all bloody inspired." As he stood there now, he understood why this was such a big deal.
"Hi," he said, even though he was sure she couldn't hear over the screaming fans.
She had a hand holding out a copy of the first book in the series with the page tabbed with her favorite line of his character. She seemed just as shocked as he was, if not more, before bringing her arm up towards her, reading the line of zeros where her countdown should be. She had found her soulmate.
Looking back up at Thomas, she smiled brightly, tears filling the corners of her eyes. "Hi."
"Stay right here!" Thomas suddenly shouted before taking off down the carpet where he came. Dylan had watched the whole thing and was eyeing Thomas's soulmate, approving when he saw her smiling as she watched Thomas dash away.
Thomas returned a few seconds later with his bodyguard behind him. The tall and broad man opened the divider and had the (Y/H/C) girl step through it before any of the other girls could. A few fangirls screamed or whined as they saw the girl walking towards their celebrity crush but the pair was too entranced by each other.
Thomas held his hand out for her to shake but in the heat of the moment, the girl rushed forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, the young man hugging her tightly a second later. Pulling away, (Y/N) smiled widely. "I'm (Y/N)."
"Want to go somewhere we can talk?" Thomas asked when he heard another wave of fans. He forgot about the movie premiere he was supposed to be attending and instead wanted to learn everything about this girl.
(Y/N) shyly agreed and took his hand when he led them towards a secluded part of the premiere where the two could spend hours talking, neither of them caring about the movie they had come here to watch. They had spent years watching their timers count down to this day and it was better than they ever expected.
