Samuel couldn't believe where he was. He took a deep breath to study his shaking hands, taking off his glasses and setting them on the table right next to him. He walked out as the announcer called his name. He waved happily, smiling and trying to hide the nervousness. He went out onto the trampoline platform. He took another breath and started jumping. He was soaring, as always. Flip, curve, spin, jump, flip, bend, cartwheel, corkscrew, split! It was a perfect formula in his head and he landed in the split, hands up, chest heaving.  the crowds roared as he got up, grabbing his glasses from the table.  He was the last competitor and headed back out to the platform almost immediately. The MC came onto the platform with three medals. There were four competitors, him one of the few who made it to the top four.

"Alright, alright! That's what I'm talking about! Y'all imma get right into this. In fourth place, we have, Lotty Atkinson! " The woman smiled and shook the MC's hand, trotting off stage. Samuel tucked his hands behind his back.

"Third place, we have Stephanie Crawford!" another woman came in front and accepted the bronze medal, stepping back onto the raised platform proudly.

"The second place, we have,  Alexandria finch!" Samuel blinked in surprise as the woman stepped forward to accept her medal. he was almost certain that he was going to get second.

"In the first place, Samuel Seabury!" Samuel stepped forward, a wide grin on his face. he could barely contain himself.

"As our custom, Mister Seabury, you are being asked to give a speech." he was handed the microphone.

"Oh, okay, thank you. Alright, I had nothing prepared, as I wasn't expecting to even get in the top ten, let alone the top three, or even first place. Is suppose that people thank the ones who helped them get here in speeches. Well, my husband deserves a huge thank you, having bandaged many sprained ankles and wrists. He's here in the crowd somewhere, front row but I'm not exactly sure where. I'm actually trying not to cry right now, and I know he doesn't want me too, but I am just really happy, and I'm Italian, so that intensifies it by thirty million percent." The crowd laughed as he wiped away tears.

"Yeah, this is just amazing, and I thank all of you for coming, and my fellow gymnasts for being so amazing at what they do and making it really hard for me to beat them, I feel like there are so many other competitors that deserve this more than I do, and I'm so grateful  that I have this. Thank all of you" he handed the mic back and the MC grinned.

"Alright! Hey what's your husbands name?"

"George"

"George, hop the fence, do what ya gotta do, get down here!" There was roaring and smauel saw George hop the barrier, running over. He twirled smauel around, laughing. Samuel suddenly found himself on his husbands shoulder, nearly tipping over in surprise the crowd clapped and cheered as the MC laughed.

"So a weight lifter and a gymnast! I imagine the both of you are a nightmare to be in the gym with!" They laughed as Samuel hopped off George's shoulder, letting him wrap an arm around his waist

Later

"I am so proud of you sammy!" George said brightly Samuel dropped the keys intoned the bowl near the door and sighed deeply, flopping into the couch and letting his eyes close.

"And I am so tired, everything hurts" he sighed. George smiled. Smauel was always sore after competitions. He sat down next to him and pulled him onto his lap, squeezing his shoulders gently.

"Better?"

"Yeah"
