Miranda's pov
"I'm assuming you've got everything covered here right Max?" I say, picking up my purse and car keys. "Yeah. Round the clock security. This guy won't get out of jail and if he does, he won't get to Jerome." I smile. "Thanks." I head home and lay on the couch exhausted beside Garret. "How was your first day?" He asks without opening his eyes. "Eventful." I say, starting at the turned off tv. "Saved a little boy, put the dad in prison for child abuse. Poor kid is terrified.... Just like I was." He sits up and hugs me. "I'm okay. I've just got to get used to it all." Just then my phone rings. I smile, seeing my dad's number. He family probably wants to know how my first day went too.
*A few hours later*
"I hope all this doesn't mess her up." Brittany says. I smile. "She's a tough cookie. She's got this." I say, sitting beside her on the bed. She smiles. "I am so proud of her." There's a knock on our bedroom door. "My friends are here." Our teenage son calls. "I'm heading out." "Ok have fun." I call back standing up. "Memphis is watching TV." I hear trying front door close. "Pretty soon, Chris is gonna grow up and move out too. It's bizarre to think about." I smile. "Come on honey. We've still got one rambunctious ten year old to raise." "I love you." She says, standing up and hugging me. "I love ya too babe."
