Betty clutched her boyfriend's hand as they stepped foot inside of the school.

They had only recently started officially dating, and Betty was a nervous wreck. He was some sort of king in high school, and she was like nothing.

She was shy, barely recognised, being picked on at times. She just didn't feel the need to be the centre of the attention.

However when Jughead Jones came in her eye-sight, the frightening, muscled, extremely handsome Jughead Jones, she wanted to scream to the world he was hers.

And to all of her luck, he couldn't keep himself off of her either, and here they were.

She was nervous, and she couldn't help but fist his shirt with her free hand while squeezing his hand with her other. Jughead clearly noticed the anxiety racing through her bones and stopped walking for second.

"Calm down." He whispered, his voice soft since they were already at school terrain. She looked at him, her eyes wild, her lip trembling. "I've got you."

Betty nodded, visibly relaxing. "Thank you." Her voice let out a sound of relief.

His lips slowly leaned into hers, pressing a soft kiss on her mouth. "Come on." He laced their fingers together, pulling her further inside of the school.

Her hands felt less clammy, her breathing was steadier. The impact he had on her was insane.

The second they got inside, all eyes were focused on the couple. Jughead seemed to not not care, but Betty on the other hand was an anxious mess.

She hated people looking at her, judging her. "Don't worry baby, I love you." His voice was soft, only for her to hear. She smiled up at him, her eyes holding his for a few second before they continued walking.

The crowd that had formed around them had exploded into whispers and people pointing at them.

Jughead gently squeezed Betty's hand, pulling her quickly into their classroom.

"This freaks me out." Betty admitted when they were finally settled in their seats. Jughead's arm draped around her shoulder.

"I know it does, but I don't fucking care what anyone thinks about us. I love you, okay?" Never had Jughead been as soft as he was with Betty.

It was simply impossible to be rough with such a loving, kind girl. She made him soft.

"I love you too." Betty leaned into his chest, letting herself snuggle in him.

Suddenly the stares were not that bad and the whispers didn't matter anymore.

He pulled her on his lap by their cafeteria table. Jughead's serpent friends sat divided in several chairs around the table.

Sweet pea was on opposite of them, Fangs beside him. Next to Betty and Jughead was Toni, who was talking to another serpent on the other side next to her.

"How you feeling?" Jughead asked her, his lips attaching to her neck. Betty leaned into his kiss.

"Good, I think." Her hands traveled around his head, tangling in his hair. Betty had never been someone who did PDA, but with Jughead all she wanted to do was take him in a tongue-thrusting kiss right there and then

"You're so goddamn adorable." He smirked, caressing her face in his hands. She giggled nervously and dug her head in his chest, a blush coming across her cheeks. "I'm happy you wanted to make us official."

"Me too." She replied, a smile spreading on her lips. Their lips pressed together, moving in sync.

"You guys can eat each other somewhere else, Jughead we gotta head to the Whyte Wyrm. Fp just called it in for something important according to him." Sweet Pea explained.

Jughead sighed and brought himself to pull Betty tighter against himself. "Sorry baby, I gotta go." He whispered, his lips touching her ear as he spoke.

"It's okay, when I'm done from school I'll wait for you at my house." She climbed off his lap, letting him stand up.

With one more deep kiss, he walked out of the school with the serpents following behind him. Betty was left alone in the cafeteria, immediately feeling the warmth of Jughead fade away from her.

The anxiety that raced through her bones returned and her nails involuntarily started digging themselves in her palm. They cut through her flesh, opening the old scars.

She shakily stood up from her chair and hurried to the classroom, scared of anyone that would even look at her.

Jughead really meant everything to her. He calmed her down whenever she needed it, he helped her when the nightmares returned, he took care of her when she did something stupid, like digging her nails into her palms.

It was insane how important Jughead was in her life.

For the entire day Betty had been waiting for Jughead to show up at her house, but he didn't show. Slowly day had turned into night, and Betty had been under her sheets, silently praying for Jughead to be okay.

With him in her mind, she had fallen asleep.

She was awoken by a cold hand on her forehead and the sound of someone screaming. It wasn't until she opened her eyes that she realised she was the one screaming.

Quickly she placed her hand in front of her mouth in order for her to stop. Tears ran down her cheeks as she saw Jughead sitting beside her on the bed, his hands holding her steady.

"It's okay love, it's okay." He soothed, his lips kissing her forehead. His thumb moved to wipe her tears away.

"I'm sorry." She whimpered, grasping his shirt in her tiny fingers.

"Don't be. It's not your fault." He knew what Betty had dreamed, and he knew why.

Her sister, Polly, had died only 2 weeks ago, and Betty had found her lifeless body. It had been haunting her ever since. When nighttime came around, Betty dreamed of that moment over and over again, terrified of it.

"Did I wake you?" She asked once she had calmed down. Her eyes were rimmed and her face was puffy from the tears .

"No, I was just finished with the serpents and came to sleep beside you, but when I climbed through your window I heard your screams."

"Thank you for helping me. For loving me." She whispered, her head resting on his bare chest.

"No problem, love." He stroke her hair in circles, knowing that made her calm.

Slowly Betty felt her eyelids turn heavy and her breathing turn deep. "Go to sleep." Jughead demanded kindly.

Betty didn't even respond, already falling back asleep. "Goodnight."
