Chapter 66: Lies Upon Lies

Jen: No. He would have told me.

Reed: Apparently not. You know how he felt about you.

Jen: He was my best friend. That's it.

Reed: Oh really?

Jen: Yeah.

You said, trying to assure him. Reed leaned close to your ear and whispered into it.

Reed: I found the tapes Jen.

You pushed him back.

Jen: No one knows about those.

Reed: I do. Violet let it slip one day.

Jen: Violet is dead. In fact, everyone who was included in those tapes are dead. Except for me.

Reed: What is this? Final Destination? Have you been cheating death?

Jen: Not funny. Reed, no one needs to know about those tapes.

Reed: So you live here all alone?

He said, walking behind you.

Jen: Reed...

You started, turning to face him. Before you could speak again, he was kissing you. Shock stunned you temporarily.  You pushed him back away from you.

Jen: I have a boyfriend!!

You yelled.

Reed: Oh. I'm sorry. I just thought that-

Jen: I think you should leave.

The front door opened and Ash came out. You were relieved Colby didn't see what happened, this would end badly if he did.

Ash: What's going on out here?

Ash said in an angry voice.

Reed: This is all just a misunderstanding.

Ash was only about a half of an inch shorter than Reed.

Ash: So I just "misunderstood" you kissing my girlfriend.

Reed: I swear I didn't know she had a boyfriend.

He said, terrified.

Ash: Just don't let it happen again.

He said, walking toward you. Ash walked on the other side of you to where your back was toward Reed.

Ash: You okay baby?

He whispered.

Jen: Yeah. I'm fine.

Ash: Did he hurt you?

He said in his overprotective tone that reminded you of Colby.

Jen: No, I'm fine. I just know him from high school.

Ash: I thought that you didn't like anyone from your high school.

Jen: I don't.

Reed stayed silent the whole time. Ash pulled away from the hug and cupped your face with his hands. Dang, he was a good actor.

Ash: How about you go inside and keep doing what you were doing before.

He winked in a seductive manner, which made you realize what he meant.

Jen: But I can't do that without you.

Ash: Then just get ready. I'll be in in a second.

Jen: Okay.
