The Alpha was clearly waiting for me when I was making a big descent down the massive grand staircase which lead down to the ground floor of this part of the palace. If this was a Bollywood movie, which I want to be at great pains to say it isn't. That said, if there are any Bollywood producers out there looking for a plot then, you know feel free to DM me. If this was the Bollywood version then all of the men on the ground floor behind the Alpha would suddenly break into an incredibly well choreographed and fantastically timed epic dance. After singing something a Bex and a large number of concubines would suddenly emerge and then dance a kind of fluid dance expressing a luster of longing. Hang on did I say luster of longing? Naturally that's just what Sabrina would express. My own feelings at not at all linked to these sentiments in any way, either living or dead. Actually, if anybody wants to invite me to a real Indian wedding I've always been curious to see if that spontaneously happens anyway and I'm like this cultural jerk who thinks it's just a movie thing.

Halfway down I'm suddenly approached by General Sebastian who's running up quickly in human form.

"I must speak with you my Queen. Our allies have been attacked using your wedding present."

"I didn't realize butter knives could be so dangerous," I said.

I'm going to say for the record that general Sebastian is incredibly hot. He has dark hair deep-set eyes firm thin lips which just shout kiss me. I mean you could easily just flick through a school yearbook at high speed for 30 seconds and you pointed him and go yep that's the ball King for you there and be right.

I could feel Biri rushing downstairs at speed to save me from behind.

"Sebastian!" Biri says rushing to Sebastian and grabbing his arm "I demand to have the first dance with you. No no arguments were doing it right away."

Sebastian looks desperately up at me.

"It's a ball relax" I tell him.

"We will dance later," Sebastian says to me being pulled away

I strongly resisted the temptation to point out that he couldn't have danced with me before now. He couldn't dance with me now so later was his only real choice. He was pulled enthusiastically away Biri.

'We will, but I haven't decided if we will be dancing with each other yet' I said quietly to my self.

I carry on sweeping down the long staircase going past all the admiring onlookers. At some point I realize I'm still sweeping down and I might have been better if they installed an escalator or something in this. Finally, on the entrance floor I reached the hand of the Alpha.

The Alpha is standing tall and looking exceptionally elegant in a copy of an Earthian white military uniform. I think officer and a gentleman but without the cheesy music but with the capability of ripping someone limb from limb. Thinking about it, It's the contrast between total danger and total refinement which makes both look worse than they actually are. I will confess at this point it in reality it pretty much does it for me. Yes, as Bex would say, he's looking pretty 'fly'.

"You look magnificent in your gold dress." The Alpha says smiling "you look exceptionally special tonight."

I smiled back, "thanks so much for that. I will point out you shot anybody else in a similar dress."

The Alpha took my arm "Can you blame me for wanting everything to be perfect? Now take the first dance with me. Everyone else is eager to dance into the night."

"How long is that again?" I asked as we walked hand in hand.

"About eight hours, but I have Pandora on stand by to make it 10 if we are having a good time." The Alpha said leading me gracefully as we paraded arm in arm towards the dance floor. By Dance floor I mean literally there was an entire floor of the palace devoted to dancing. It was just above the third floor, Ballet and Tap at the front, disco to the side, and there was an immense ballroom at the rear. We entered the ballroom to an expectant crowd.

"How am I doing?" I asked him smiling, "I feel wanted."

"Wanted?" The Alpha says.

We walk into the center of the grand hall. Believe me this place is large enough to learn to drive a badly behaved super-truck in.

"Yes wanted, like a mouse who as fallen into a tarantula habitat, kind of wanted."

Many people were in the human or half-human form partly as a tribute to myself and the rumors of my impending child. The crowd formed around was we began. We stood opposite each other to begin the dance. The music started it was a weird a-tonal Lycan music which we reminded me of the New York minimalist composer like Philip Glass. Any point you would thought your would start to hear a choir singing "koyaanisqatsi"

The ancient Lucan civilization felt that the way we danced on Earth was incredibly primitive, their civilization was much older and their dances were far more prescribed. They translated most of them from four legs down to two. We stood just about opposite each other and then bend down very low and tilted heads so we could see each other's hips. Then we sniffed very formally and stood up. Friendship now obtained we began to orbit each other.

"You're doing great. You are the envy of everyone here." The Alpha said.

I shut up for most of the rest of the dance concentrating on trying to remember the moves. Having these memory implants is always a bit strange. There is a peculiar discontinuity between doing something for the first time and yet feeling like it's already second nature.

At the end of the dance everyone clapped politely. The Alpha took my hand.

"We will Dance the Kadrill". Pandora announced to the crowd.

This was a dance everybody would do people spread out, like they were trying to socially distance. There was a careful hierarchy of who could be close to the alpha and I. the fingerprint of the social order left a strong mark on the organization of a couple in the ball. I look down to notice a small scrap paper of was stuck  to my dress.

"TONIGHT WE WILL DANCE TOGETHER BY THE MOON GODDESS. . THE AK-A-LUNE." It said.

'Wonderful' I thought. 'I get to meet the head of the assassins. I'm sure they are going to be very understanding that I killed one of his/her agents.'
