I sat in the back seat of the car as Kurapika talked on the phone with Killua. I sat next to Gon, and Leorio sat in the driver's seat, a sandwich halfway down his throat.
I looked at my lap. I couldn't focus on our dangerous mission. Images of that stupid snowball rushed through my mind. The same phrase repeating itself over and over again.
Do I like Killua?
I feel like deep down, I always knew. I just never wanted to admit it. Facing those feelings felt scary and risky. But now that I've acknowledged it, the thought won't stop haunting me.
Negative thoughts flooded my mind as the boy didn't leave my mind.
He doesn't like me that way.
I'm not good enough.
I'm too annoying.
I'm too weak.
I'm too broken.
"Hey, Korudo!" Gon turned to look at me, and his mood slightly changed. "Uh- are you alright?" His voice lowered to a quiet volume.
"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine." I replied, looking up from my lap.
"Are you sure? You've been awfully quiet." I heard Leorio pipe in from the front.
"Yeah, I'm good. What did Killua say about their base?" I turned to Kurapika, changing the subject.
"It isn't the same place. There's whole new buildings. It's most likely a Conjurer's work." Kurapika replied. I nodded, and continued to stare at him for a bit.
"What?" He asked, noticing my lingering gaze. I broke out into a smile, and covered my mouth.
"It's just-" I struggled to keep my laughter in. "It's so funny seeing you cross dress." I teased him with a smirk, and he sighed.
"Well, it's necessary. I can't take anymore risks." He stated, turning back to the front.
"It's still cross dressing." I shrugged, a few snickers escaping my throat.
"Man, these guys are really crazy... They have someone who can conjure entire buildings!" Leorio exclaimed.
"It's safe to assume that they're rigged somehow, so Killua must be careful." Kurapika explained and I tensed.
"I hope he's okay..." I muttered, barely audible. I don't think any of the boys heard it, since they didn't react.
"Hello? Melody?" Kurapika talked on the phone again with somebody else this time. I sighed as I leaned back in the seat.
Killua called Gon back, and told us about the situation.
"The woman's here. She's with her buddies. There are six, moving together. That topknot guy's here, too." Killua stated and both Gon snd I cringed at the mention of Nobunaga.
"One more thing. There's one person that wasn't there yesterday. He's probably the leader." Killua continued.
"Can you describe him?" Gon asked.
"He's wearing a black coat, with an inverted cross on the back. He has combed-back black hair. I can't see his face. And they're too alert! I'm too afraid to circle around in front." I heard Killua explain from the other side of the phone.
"Let me speak to him." Kurapika reached his hand out to Gon. "Where are you now?" He asked after Gon gave him the phone.
"In front of the Motoba Building. They're walking west, on Continental Street. There's a station nearby." Killua replied.
