AS ANY DAY AT A hospital starts for an orthopedic surgeon, Elijah sips from his thermos of extra-strong coffee that Aliyah had insisted on making him this morning.

A week had passed since the wedding and seemingly, Aliyah was just starting to regain her motor skills - as she puts it. Every night since they had car sex, it was non-stop. Neither of them would have it any other way though.

The couple always seemed to be going to bed and waking up with smiles on their faces. Dang, Elijah has barely spent a night in his own house since then.

And now, with Thanksgiving coming up in four days, the two would make dinner plans as pillow talk. Seeing as they've been together for almost nine months now, the two had planned to switch between both families - or even have their own dinner at his place (since it's bigger) and invite friends and family.

For some reason, Elijah felt that wouldn't go over well with his mother.

"Elijah, my darling."

Speaking of the devil.

Elijah pivots on his heel to turn away from the nurse's station where he was filling out discharge papers from the night before to his mother who dons a shady smirk on her face.

"Mother," Elijah greets her, leaning down to press a kiss to her cheek, "May I ask what I did for you to grace me with your presence this lovely morning?"

She smiles, "I just came to see your plans for Thanksgiving, sweetheart. I know we haven't had Thanksgiving dinner together since the divorce but -"

"The divorce was last year." He pauses, seeing the mischievous glint in her gaze, "Ma," He drags, pushing her to get it out, "What are you up to?"

Charlotte turns away, slightly, her smile widening, "Invite Aliyah over for Thanksgiving."

Elijah raises an eyebrow, skeptically, "Ma..."

"Elijah," She mocks, "Take this as a sign of good faith. This is out of the kindness of my heart, no shady actions."

He still doesn't believe her. Instead, he leans against the counter and tilts his head, "We were planning on having our own thing."

"Well, cancel," She deadpans.

Elijah resists the urge to roll his eyes, "And what about her family?"

Charlotte wastes no time in answering, "Invite them too. We'll make it a big party. My house."

Her son narrows his eyes. She's up to something, he tells himself.

"Ma, I don't know how Aliyah would feel about this..."

Charlotte reaches forward, pressing her hand against her son's freckled cheek, "I'm not taking no for an answer, my love."
