Chapter fifty-one; Consequences and true colours

▴ ◃ ▾ ▹

The hospital wing was mainly silent apart from a few whispers here and there. Jasmine was sitting on the edge of a bed that was placed right next to William's. Her cousin was laying there still not conscious, bandaged and patched up, being tended by Madame Pomfrey. The nurse tried to help Jasmine as well but she refused any help saying she was fine. While she was waiting to hear any update on William's health she cast episkey two times on her side which sadly helped only momentarily.

With Pomfrey so close she didn't want to use any bigger healing spells she knew in case she would get in trouble or mess something up. Her hands were shaking so badly that she would surely not be concentrated enough to initiate them right. Fear was constantly coursing through her, this wasn't supposed to happen. She wished more than ever that Marauders would just disappear, she couldn't believe they appeared in the worst possible time. If they weren't there William wouldn't be injured enlarging the risk of-. No, she stopped herself from thinking something like that could happen. He's not going to appear just like that.

As they arrived at the Hospital Wing, McGonagall informed them she's sending letters to everyone's parents without allowing students to explain what actually happened. That's another reason why Jasmine's hands were shaking so badly, her dad is going to find out about this. The only two occupied beds were the one where William was being healed and opposite him where Sirius lay awake surrounded by his friends. At the thought of him, Jasmine looked sideways to check on him only to look quickly away as Sirius was looking directly at her.

He was propped up against pillows, James was sitting on the bed beside him, Peter on a stool and Remus on an edge of another bed facing them. They fell silent as they watched Jasmine who refused to look them back.

''So who knocked the bloke out?'' Sirius asked out of nowhere, asking about William.

The other three were silent only James pointed with his hand to Remus. The werewolf was watching Pomfrey tend to the Ravenclaw with a grave expression. The whole situation turned worse for everyone than they thought it would. The worst for Remus was that Jasmine didn't want to even look at him and he wasn't exactly sure why. Yes, he knew that what they did, attacking William like that where they clearly had an advantage as there were four against one, was very wrong. But he couldn't just stand there doing nothing as Jasmine clearly was in danger.

Especially since William was the one first firing the shot at Jasmine. A sense of pride appeared in him as soon as he saw William laying on the ground like that, but then Jasmine freaked out and regret filled all of him. Sirius observed his friend with a curious eyebrow raised as he wondered what got into him to act like that. Usually, when they faced trouble Remus was the rational one, while James and Sirius were the ones firing shots first. But then again Sirius fell unconscious rather quickly which left Remus to protect him. In any case, Sirius was the one feeling proud of how they finished William off not completely sensing the anger that was radiating off of Jasmine.

All of their eyes landed back on Jasmine who was shaking more and more by the second. Remus wanted nothing more than to go to her and pull her in a warm hug but he remained seated. Jasmine's head picked up from watching her twiddling hands as Madame Pomfrey approached. Before the nurse could say a single word the heavy doors of the Hospital Wing opened with such force that they hit the wall with a loud noise. Everyone's attention turned to the new arrival who walked with shoes thumping against the ground loudly, the noise echoing through the room. Jasmine felt her stomach drop as her breathing became shallower than it did before.

A middle-aged man in a suit, with dark and slightly greying hair, advanced into the room. His expression was nearly emotionless, a bit of frustration mixed in.
