Chapter eighty-one; The gang back together

▴ ◃ ▾ ▹

''What exactly was your plan once you were outside my house?'' Jasmine asked curiously as the five of them walked in a fast pace down the parallel street to the one where her house was.

After she completely calmed down, courtesy of Remus being the only sane one to do so out of all the guys, they hurried out of there and tried to put as much distance between them and Pearson's house. James nearly apparated away but Jasmine quickly stopped him, knowing they could get tracked. And by her sixth sense of her dad, he's doing exactly that if her mum doesn't come up with something to cover for her. It was a waiting game by this point and Jasmine was slowly getting the creepy feeling in her stomach that someone is after her at all times. No wonder she was the fastest to walk away from there, having Sirius carry her too heavy trunk.

Her whole body was anxious because of the chance of William ratting her out. Through some weird circumstances, she let that teeny tiny spec of hope live inside her that he would keep quiet. She didn't know why he would do that since he has never done anything for her good in her entire life but she hoped she shocked him enough with the news of abuse under the roof he so comfortably lived.

''Uh, I don't know,'' Sirius grunted in frustration with the trunk. Jasmine peeked over her shoulder to check if he's okay and Sirius gave her no reason to help, he seemed to be doing just fine by himself.

James was beside him, hair sticking out wildly at all angels from the wind as well as from his hands constantly going through them. Good thing his glasses stayed in the same place and in one piece. ''We honestly haven't gotten that far with the plan.''

Jasmine didn't know if she should chuckle or gape at the lot. She looked at Remus who was walking beside her, his hand firmly clasped around hers as if he never wanted to let her go. Considering how many weeks they were apart she never intended to let go either.

He had a guilty expression on his face that he quickly covered up with a small smile as he looked back at her. ''It worked out nonetheless, didn't it?''

A murmur of agreements passed through the guys, all the way back to Peter who was walking last behind them. He looked most scared out of all of them and kept checking the road behind them in panic. Jasmine didn't want to believe them at first. The infamous Marauders came to rescue her without a solid plan. Her mouth opened and closed as she was trying to find proper words to say but nothing seemed to go past her lips. Then her brain rewound back and she depicted some details from their many, many mischiefs which quite often went haywire because of some details that were missing.

The group rounded a corner and came onto the main street that was busy with traffic and on which also stood the main bus station. A question of 'what happens next' was on the tip of Jasmine's tongue when a scream cut through all the noise already made by cars and her head whipped towards the source of it.

In the distance, she spotted a certain redhead standing dead middle on the crowded station. Her hair whipped around her as she bolted past all the people heading straight towards them. Jasmine only had just the time to release Remus' hand before she was engulfed in a tight hug from Lily.

''Oh, I'm so glad you're okay, Jass!'' Lily whispered into her shoulder as the two continued to stay in each other's embrace.

Jasmine breathed in the familiar sweet scent of Lily's shampoo, not expecting to see her here, but overly happy to be hugging her. ''I can't believe you were in on this plan as well.''

''Yeah, well we wanted to come to the house but the guys said it would be safer for fewer people to go so we waited here,'' Lily replied.

''We?'' Jasmine asked curiously. She raised her head only so little to look past Lily's shoulder and her eyes widened immediately when Robyn approached her as well.
