Chapter ninety-two; Boyfriend confrontation

''Gabriel,'' said Jasmine and stepped a bit forward in front of Remus. Her face held confusion. She didn't expect to see him all school year even though she was constantly reminded of his existence by the countless letters he sent her.

Gabriel's shock still didn't diminish as he flickered his eyes from Jasmine to Remus and back to Jasmine. ''What –?''

''I think we should talk,'' said Jasmine, desperately wanting to evade this tension that appeared between them.

''Yes. That's a good idea.'' Gabriel agreed.

Remus stepped forward and touched Jasmine's arm to get her attention. Once she looked at him she noticed the worried expression he wore. ''I'll be fine,'' she offered him a smile. ''Go on inside, I'll join you soon.''

Remus watched her for a few more seconds before he nodded. He kissed her cheek and brushed past her to enter Three Broomsticks. Jasmine sighed and turned to Gabriel who stood still in the middle of the street. She walked closer and hid her hands in her coat because of the cold. The street was nearly empty, all shoppers were somewhere inside trying to warm themselves up. It somehow made Jasmine uncomfortable to be alone with Gabriel with no eyewitnesses. Not that Gabriel would do anything to her but there was a possibility her dad was standing behind the reason why Gabriel even is here in Hogsmeade.

He opened his mouth to speak but Jasmine cut him off. ''Why don't we head inside as well? It'll be a lot warmer.'' She tried to reason this action, even though she more wanted to be in a public place while they talked.

Gabriel didn't oppose, he only trailed behind her as they entered the inn. One table was still vacant and Jasmine sat down, immediately taking notice of the table where her friends were sitting. She felt their eyes on her and Gabriel and hoped Remus explained to them what was happening.

''What are you doing here Gabriel?'' Jasmine asked once he was seated opposite her.

He was shocked by the question. Or maybe that was still the same shock from before. ''I wanted to surprise you, though I wasn't really sure if you'll come to the trip. I just wanted to see you, I guess.'' He shrugged.

His head then turned around to look at the inn when he noticed Jasmine's group of friends. They all looked away the second they suspected he might catch them watching. ''It looks like I was more surprised though. No wonder you barely reply to my letters.'' His voice turned sour.

Jasmine started feeling guilty for not telling him earlier but then again she didn't do anything wrong. Gabriel knew well enough that she wasn't fond of the engagement.

''Are you two together?'' He spoke the words as if they stung his tongue.

''Yes,'' Jasmine whispered.

''I see,'' Gabriel muttered and leaned back in his chair, eyes solely on the tabletop.

Jasmine sighed. ''If you want to be angry at anyone, be angry at me. Not at Remus. He did nothing wrong and if your masculinity feels threatened and that you think he stole me away you're completely wrong. It wasn't like that at all.''

''When did this happen? How long are you two together?''

''Eight months.'' Jasmine didn't skip a beat.

''What!?'' Gabriel unintentionally raised his voice. A few tables beside them quieted down and turned their heads to them. Jasmine wanted to hide under the table. ''But we went on a date in spring.'' Gabriel continued quieter.
