Chapter twenty-one; Swinging books instead of reading

▴ ◃ ▾ ▹

Over the course of the next week, Jasmine did a lot of thinking. A lot of staring out of the window and just rethinking her recent choices and words. But mostly she thought about Remus and their conversation. The more she didn't want to, the more his face and name appeared back in her mind. Either she was in the library and saw books and thought about how Remus loves reading books or she was patrolling around in the dark corridors and thought where at that moment he was. All the thinking made her even more distracted during the classes, which she like always thought of very boring so she stopped paying attention altogether.

That of course resulted in her not understanding anything they were covering which brought her mind to study lessons with Remus, and she was back to contemplating their last conversation. She thought it through many times and each time she could come up with better answers she could provide during their actual talk in the storage and each time she wound up with more questions. She shook her head to stir her mind away from delving to deep again and blinked a couple of times.

Only then she realized that because of her thinking she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and she found herself standing in front of a door of a dormitory. She drew her eyebrows together and looked down the hall where she came from, weirded out by the fact how she came there. She pushed the door that had Robyn's, Sophie's and her name engraved in it and stepped into the room. Their blonde dorm mate was gone as always, since each their own designated friend groups.

Though Robyn was laying on her bed with all her attention captured by the thick book in her hands. That way Jasmine figured she didn't notice her walk in, so she closed the door with a bit louder thud notifying her. Robyn looked briefly up from the book and offered her friend a tight-lipped smile before looking back at the reading. Jasmine dropped her stuff down at the end of her own bed letting out a deep sigh. She first turned to her bed before turning to Robyn's.

She decided she needed a talk with her so she walked the rest of the way and sat down at the bottom of Robyn's bed. Robyn, who was leaning on the headboard, lowered her book and furthermore closed it when she saw the expression Jasmine was wearing. Her book was soon forgotten and she straightened up from leaning with an eager face. ''So?''

Jasmine smiled in return with a gentle shrug to her shoulders. ''Just wanted to talk. It feels like we haven't done that in a while.'' Robyn nodded agreeing to that.

Since she was keeping quiet Jasmine decided to initiate the conversation. ''How's everything going with Black?''

If Jasmine wanted to have a light talk with occasional jokes here end there, she shot right past it. Robyn's eyes first averted from her friend when she dropped her face to look at the duvet beneath them. When the light brunette expected an immediate answer along with a rant about how hot Sirius Black is, it actually never came. Robyn stayed quiet almost as she wanted to avoid the question and Jasmine became concerned. She lowered her head to catch Robyn's glance and then smiled lightly when she looked back at her.

''There's nothing more to say about it.'' At last, she spoke with a monotone voice. She shrugged as well, silently indicating what are you going to do about it.

Jasmine furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, not entirely deciphering what Robyn was saying. ''You mean the two of you broke up?''

Robyn immediately sighed deeply, not liking the terms of breaking up. She shook her head, her lips tightly pressed together. Jasmine was more confused by the second. If her own problems were hard to get her head around with then Robyn's encrypted answers were something else.
