Lily sighed as she heard the intercom ringing. She stopped chopping the onions for her sauce, so she could answer it.

"Yeah?" She asked.

"Hey, Lily. Spencer and Penelope are here." Chad – the gatekeeper – said.

"Oh, thanks, Chad. Let them in."

She walked from her kitchen toward the leaving room and unlocked the door, before returning to her previous process of cooking. When she heard the door opening and closing, she knew they had arrived. Penelope appeared first by the kitchen door. Spencer must have stayed behind to lock the door.

"Hey, pup!" She greeted. "It smells nice."

"Thanks." She smiled gently.

"Okay, but come on... We have a surprise for you." Penelope cheered, as she pulled the knife out of Lily's grip and pulled her forward, toward the living room.

"No, guys... Come on... I know you're trying to make me feel better, but, really..."

Penelope clicked her tongue, shaking her head.

"Sorry, honey, but this present can't be returned."

"Oh, God..." She whined, as she spotted Spencer standing a few feet away from her with a box in his hands. "Guys, really, I don't want..."

"You'll like it, Lily. I promise." Penelope smiled, as she pushed her best friend toward Spencer and the box. "Just give it a try."

"Whose idea was this?" Lily asked, as Spencer extended the box out for her.

"We sort of had the same idea." He shrugged, with a small smile. "So we figured... Why not?"

Lily giggled, as she undid the ribbon on top of the box, before taking off the lid. She gasped once she saw the beautiful sleeping puppy in there.

"Oh my God!" She whispered.

"You like it?" Penelope asked, almost blowing up in excitement.

"I love it." Lily smiled. "Thank you so much, guys."

"Take it." Spencer encouraged, happy that for the first time in three days he had seen a genuine smile from his best friend. "It's yours."

"Does it have a name?" Lily asked, as she carefully picked up the dog.

It stirred a bit, annoyed that its nap had been interrupted, but soon enough, it was cuddling closer to Lily's chest, closing its crystal blue eyes once again.

"No. It's a he, though, and you can name it whatever you want." Penelope smiled.

"Thank you, guys. Really." She smiled as she placed the dog down in her couch, walking up to give each of them a hug. "Now... If you're not busy... Would you like to stay for dinner?"

"That'd be great, Lily." Spencer smiled.

"Good. Cause now you have to help me find a good name for your godchild."

"Godchild?" Penelope giggled, as Lily made her way to the kitchen.

"Of course." She smiled, as she stopped by the door to turn to them. "My baby's godparents are my best friends and the ones who actually brought him into my life. Isn't it great?"

"It is, Lily." Spencer chuckled, as she watched her walk into the kitchen. "It really is."
