not again.

oh dear lord, please. not again.

you blinked.

you blinked twice.

you blinked for the third time.

yeah, okay. there's no mistake.

no matter how many times you tried to ignore it, the same name stared right back at you.

the same name, over and over, and over, and over, and over again.

you opened your mouth to say something midst your shock, but bokuto's voice beat you to it.

"okay. so that's that!" a large grin was evident across bokuto's face. "no switching and no sharing for secret santa allowed!"

"i want to switch," suna glared, shoving his piece of paper inside his pocket.

"surprisingly, i'm okay with mine this year," sakusa stated in a nonchalant tone.

"then switch with me," suna sighed.

"nope!" bokuto shook his head, standing in between the conversation of suna and sakusa. "all the secret santas are set in stone! i'll just give the remaining two names to kageyama and lana later, and we can—,"

minho spat out his drink.

it seemed, so did atsumu.

and suna.

and you would too, had you not already found out...

"what?" minho looked beyond confused. "what did you just say?"

bokuto didn't seem to notice the incredulous reactions. he blinked. "kageyama and lana? oh right, we forgot to mention—they're also doing secret santa with us."

a small silence filled the room.

your friends' eyes all looked towards you before falling back on bokuto.

wow, isn't this just another day of surprises?

oh, that's right. you hate them again.

"you mean to say," seojun said slowly, "that the kageyama guy is coming here?"

bokuto nodded. "they're coming later this afternoon, from kyoto...did you guys not know?"

another silence.

this time, though, kuroo was the one who broke it.

"hey uh, question," kuroo asked in a small voice, "did something happen between y/n and kageyama?"

you tensed. as did oikawa.

and half of your friends.

"there wasn't really like an explanation, but i just figured you guys grew apart? especially after y/n's exchange...?" kuroo trailed on awkwardly.

you swallowed the realization.

of course...they wouldn't know.

how would they know?

from their perspective, everything was probably fine all along. it wasn't as if you posted on the internet, 'hey guys, remember how kageyama and i used to be friends? yeah, well, long story short: we hate each other now. like, a lot.'

(you suppose that there have been hints and...obvious clues from your instagram, but you've never really said it out loud.)

you cleared your throat. "fine. it's um, fine," you lied.
