snow dotted the landscape.

almost like decorative bedding, across the distance.

you breathed the air, letting the beauty of it all simply drift through. everywhere you looked were traces of the holidays. the lights, the decor, the people...you stared out onto an utter and complete winter wonderland.

"hey."

you turned, seeing akaashi walk up behind you onto the balcony.

upon seeing who it was, you smiled.

"hi kaashi."

he looked amused. "how was your evening yesterday?"

damn you, kaashi. damn you and your god-self.

(you didn't mean that. you could never mean that.)

you nudged him. "you knew all along, didn't you?"

the black-haired boy smiled. "i...might've. but it was all a coincidence from the beginning."

you raised your eyebrow, as if not believing him.

akaashi laughed. "i swear. i didn't plan it to happen." his look became more serious.

"i know that something was going on—that something was wrong between you and kageyama," he said quietly. "and i hope—i know that you both will figure things out."

your gaze softened even more than it already had.

keiji akaashi always knew exactly how to melt your heart.

and akaashi looked at you with the prettiest eyes, speaking with all the certainty in the world.

"because you two are meant to be."

"ready?"

you laughed. "let's do it."

bokuto grinned. "it's carnival time!"

you found yourself smiling at the excited bokuto.

very, very unfortunately, today was your last day to spend in tokyo.

which meant that there were a shit ton of items left to do on the winter bucket list. (a little stressful, but you'll manage.)

late last night, you told your friends briefly about the events—where you ignored their shock at the fact that you and kageyama had each other as secret santas. their shock could be saved for another day.

because today, on the exact day of christmas, everything festive was going to be done.

and by everything, you meant everything.

as you looked around at the group of people, you couldn't help but feel the love—of friendship.

of course, oikawa and kageyama still shared no greeting—they barely even shared a glance across the room, actually—but other than that, things were almost perfect.
