Nelson x Reader: Accident - Part 2

Nelsons POV

It was traumatizing seeing her lay in the hospital bed. She had been out for days due to the accident at Syntec a few days ago. The doctors said that she should have been awake by now but here she was still in her temporary coma. My hands held hers tightly as I continued to stay by her side just like I did when we first got here. Flowers scattered the room from others at Syntec who were wanting to make sure she was alright. According to the others, she was the one to make sure everyone went out. Her selfless act caused her to get caught under the beam and inhale too much smoke. The constant beeping of the heart monitor was my only indication that she was still alive. I just hoped she was fighting hard to wake up soon

Tears threatened to spill as I pulled her hand up to kiss it gently. "Please wake up soon, my love. I need you in my life" I say to her before setting her hand down.

I got up to go get some coffee in order to wake me up since I was going on another day without sleep. The coffee here at the hospital was bitter and gross but it worked like it was supposed to. I walked back into her room to see she was still asleep. I sit back down in the chair beside her bed, setting my coffee to the side. I grab her hand as tears slide down my face. I was so scared that she may never wake up that she would lay here in an endless sleep for the rest of her life.

"There was so much I wanted to do with you. I wanted to take you on dates and tell you how much you meant to me. I wanted to be able to purpose you at the first place I took you to dinner at. I wanted to start a family with you and eventually grow old beside you" I say holding her hand tightly. "Please wake up. I need you to wake up so I can have all those things with you. Please... Please" I begged.

I dropped my head down to the mattress sobbing into the itchy sheets. My hand held hers even tighter as I was so scared she would slip away the moment I let go. What I didn't know is that the girl in the bed heard everything I said. She had just started to wake up when I sat back down beside her. She was still processing everything she heard from me so she didn't say a word at first. Eventually, she finally spoke up.

"Nelson?" She whispers.

I quickly sat up hearing her voice. Her voice sounded tired and weak but her e/c eyes stared at me. "You're awake?!" I say sobbing as I grab her face "Oh my god. You're awake" She smiles at me which causes my heart to flutter. Oh, how I missed that smile of hers. "I thought I had lost you"

"You weren't going to lose me. I had something worth waking up for" She says to me. I pull her into a deep kiss while still being gentle with her so I don't hurt her. She looks around the room after pulling away from me. "What's with all the flowers?"

"They are from Wes, Deb, and some others at Syntec," I answered her.

She nods looking back at me. "Will you lay with me?"

"I don't want to hurt you," I say quickly.

"You won't, I promise. Please" She says looking up at me pleading.

"You know I can't resist those eyes," I say as I climb into the hospital bed next to her.

She moves so she can lay on her side with her head on my chest. I wrap my arms around her gently, allowing myself to get comfortable.

"Am I going to be okay?" She asked.

"Of course Darling. You didn't have serious burns, just minor ones" I answered her.

"Did you mean all those things you said earlier?" She asked.

"You heard that?" I asked, blushing in embarrassment.

"Maybe" She answers giggling slightly.

"Yes, I did mean all of it" I explained to her.

"Good," She says, snuggling into me more.

"I love you," I say to her, causing her to smile.

"I love you more," She says back.

"I don't think so. I ran into a burning building for you" I say to her.

"I saved all your employees so you still had company," She says back.

"Alright, that's fair. No, go to sleep" I say pulling the blanket over her head causing her to laugh.
