Chapter fifty-one.

~~~Somewhere along the marsh~~~

"Look, if Rafe and Barry know, it's only a matter of time." Kie says. JJ scoffs.

"Before everyone knows." Pope says.

"I told you. We should've gone south, man." JJ says.

"Just stop it, JJ." John B says.

"Why does no one ever listen?" JJ asks.

"I get it. I get it. I understand." John B says.

"I have an idea. With me back, my dad's going to have to choose between me and Rafe." Sarah says.

"Sarah, Sarah-" John B says.

"He's gonna choose me." Sarah says.

"Just please listen. Ward keeps lying to you, Sarah." John B says.

"I don't think it's safe to go there." I say.

"Sarah, he won't agree after everything that's happened." Kie says.

"No. I.. I know it sounds crazy." Sarah says.

"Yeah, it does." Kie says.

"I know!" Sarah yells.

"Sarah, it's not safe." Ky says.

"Maybe not for you guys.. but he's my dad. And I know him, and I know he loves me and now that we have London, he can't refuse." Sarah says.

"Sarah, you can't do this." London says.

"I'm just asking for two hours." Sarah says. It goes silent and she starts to walk away.

"Sarah." John B says. He goes over to her and they start talking quietly before she goes to the boat.

"Okay, guys. I don't trust this." I say.

"Don't trust what?" Kie asks.

"This. The marsh. There's gonna be bugs and stuff." I say.

"Sarah could be getting murdered at Tannyhill right now." Kie says.

"Don't say that!" London says.

"And you're worried about bugs? Bugs? Seriously?" Kie asks.

"They're so gross and they make me feel all itchy and dirty. I don't wanna get bit by something and get some disease especially right now. I've been in the hospital enough since summer." I say.

"You're just accident-prone because you're so small." Ky says.

"Kyla. Kyla. Kyla." I say.

"You know all those logs and stuff you have in your hands probably have bugs all in them." Eli says.

"Ahhh!" I scream throwing the stuff in my hands onto the ground.

"Ow. So high pitched." Ky says holding her ear.

"Don't worry, kitten. The fire will probably kill those bugs." Roark says picking up the stuff I dropped.

"And the ones it doesn't kill, I will." Presley says.
