The ocean breeze sent shivers down my spine as we walked the soft sand, it wasn't that gritty kind, it was quiet comfortable against my bare feet.

It always felt like one way or another, me and Ally were going out, doing something, anything besides sitting home and to be completely honest, I didn't mind.

It helped me think of other things besides Shawn, and that was exactly what I needed.

"Lylas gonna meet us here soon, she said to wait by the water then we could head on the peer when she arrived"

Ally's hair flew back as we finally stopped in font of the ocean.

Waves splashed the shore like it was dying to be connected with one another, I smiled at the beauty of the night.

"This is so peaceful, I wish I lived on the beach" I commented, digging my toes deeper into the coldness of the ground.

Ally hummed in agreement, throwing her arms into the air as if to stretch.

I watched with a slight laugh as she let out the noise of big foot or something,

"What the hell was that,"

"That my friend was the sound of freedom, of letting go"

She was such a positive human being, watching my best friend made me want to do the exact same,

Let go

Ally didn't have anyone holding her back, she already knew what college she was attending next year, her parents had been saving up sense the day she was born, they have a family house in Malibu, California she plans on staying when she moves out, this girl had absolutely nothing stopping her.

And I'd wished more anything I could have just as much luck as she did.

"Is Ian coming tonight"? I finally piped up, after staring at her for a few moments.

Her hands dropped and nose stiffened, giving me a 'did you have to bring him up look'

Al and Ian had been on and off the last five months, more off then on but neither of them could seem to give it up completely.

"We're not together," she smirked proudly, swooshing her feet around in the sand to make a clear spot for her bum.

I did the same, plopping down first.

"Yeah, that'll change tomorrow" I focused on the water, resting my hands on my knees as they were pulled close to my chest.

She groaned, resting her body on her hands, legs out straight.

"You're probably right, but as of right now, I'm a single lady"

I knew she wanted to finish that with, 'and so are you' but she didn't dare, in fear of flooding the pain right back into my veins, not that it ever really left.

"I am too.." I tried to form a believable sentence, I mean, I was single but I never really considered myself single.

"Will"? She pulled my hand from my knee and grasped it with hers, frowning.

"You don't have to drink tonight, you don't have to do anything you feel like you're not ready to do but promise me you'll try and have fun? I'm tired of seeing you miserable"

Her words were smooth and sincere, I didn't hesitate to nod, smiling.

"I promise"

But did? Did I promise to finally fucking have fun and forget?

This wasn't fair, it was never fair to begin with ya know? Why should I spend months of my life sobbing when he was probably somewhere drinking and fucking girls,

He had moved on.

And it was time for me to do the same.

"Thank you for waiting for me ladies, you ready to head on up"?

Lylas voice caused us to turn our head and pull ourselves up.

I brushed the sand from my bum, smiling at my other best friend.

Me and Al met lyla three months back at one of Ian's parties, she's one hundred percent Ally's personality twin.

"I was born ready" Al hugged the black haired girl with a cliche remark.

I did the same, following the two up onto the peer.

It was packed with people of all ages, mostly teenagers drinking, running around, having fun like teenagers should do.

If I forgot to mention it before, in Canada, you could be eighteen to drink, now I was only seventeen but against all my beliefs, I had a fake ID.

(I made that up, I believe you have to be twenty one to drink in Canada, this is just my rule in the story)

"I need a martini," lyla groaned, walking up the front of the bar with Ally.

I hung back, leaning against the side of the wooden peer, looking over at the water.

This was it, I was finally going to have fun tonight and I wasn't going to let anyone stop me.

Not even, him.

"Willow? I got you a shot of voldka but hurry up and take it because Lyla here wants to introduce us to some friends of hers"

Ally stood beside me, shoving the small glass in my palms.

I took it, throwing my head back and sipping every last drop.

A shot wasn't much at all but straight vodka, and it being the first drink I've had in months, the sting of my throat beamed.

"There down at this restaurant, come" Lyla giggled, sipping what looks like a mud slide as she led the way down the peer.

Lots of people shoved and squealed as we moved past them but most everyone seemed friendly enough to smile.

Most everyone was also very intoxicated.

As we walked closer and closer to the group of people Lyla had known, I couldn't help but be taken back by the blonde who's back was facing us.

Her long hair, tall, fit stride and very, very short skirt.

Something had stuck me, some
sort of resemblance to someone I may know, or known.

"Girls, I'd like you to meet my friend, Amanda"
