Murky water collected on the paved roads, raindrops collecting on the window that separated the outside world from the cursed soldier. Bucky glanced up at the sky, watching the dark clouds swirl above his head. A deep rumble echoing in the distance as lightning streaked across the sky, displaying the deep purples and blues of the storm clouds. You quietly moved forward, watching the beast with curious eyes.
"How easy, it must be to love something so gorgeous." His deep voiced mused, bitterly spitting the last word. You couldn't help but feel sad for his somehow, a burning desire to just stand next to overcoming you. Turning around, you see the light coming from the stormy outdoors finally hit his face showing the metal arm with a tensed fist and the scattered scars that covered what was visible of his arms. "Am I everything your foolish town said I was?" Bucky spat, venom lacing every word, unintentionally baring his canines where you hid in the darkness.
"I could only imagine how hard it must be for you to even look at me." His furious demeanor changing in mere seconds as his eyes fell to the floor in shame, hating the curse more in this moment as you took a tentative step from chair you were hiding from, not even thinking as you cautiously stepped closer towards the beast. The unfamiliar coldness on his cheek broke Bucky from his hateful trance, immediately looking down at your much smaller form.
Your heart was pounding in your ears, your chest visibly rising and falling as placed a small kiss on your palm, igniting a spark that ran up and down your arm. "I...do not fear you." Your voice came out as a hushed whisper, finally understanding the colors of the ocean that your books described as you looked into his heartbroken blue eyes.
"But do you love me?" Your breath was caught in your throat, horror evident in your eyes as the beast leaned forward. "Could you ever see anything but a beast?" His lips brushed against the shell of your ear, silence uncomfortably filling the space between the two of you. The quiet answering the question for you as he moved away from you. Sadly smiling, Bucky's metal hand pried your smaller one away and turned to leave, the unfamiliar coldness sent shiver down your spine.
You watched him start to retreat down the long hallway, his metal arm occasionally capturing the light of a lightning bolt as Bucky strolled past a window. "I love the way your arm shines in the moonlight as you watch the constellations" He had stopped, your voice bringing his to a stop as you took one step towards him, your heart hammering in your chest. "I love the singing you do when you think no one is around."
Continuing, you take one more step towards Bucky as he begins to slowly turn around, his mouth slightly open with disbelief. "I love the way your eyes squint up whenever you are truly happy." Now close enough, you see the slight tears that streamed down his face and now noticed your own, your voice now starting to waver. "I love our late night talks when I can't go to sleep." This time, it's Bucky that steps towards you, his thumb reaching under your eye to collect the new tears that threatened to fall as he placed his other on your cheek.
Hesitantly leaning down, he pressed his lips onto your own, his thumb stroking your cheek as your arms wrapped around his neck. The sparks from before was nothing compared to the wildfire that spread through your entire body as he broke away, smiling. "Can I love a beast?" You asked, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him down. Leaning your forehead against his, you looked into his eyes. "Of course I can."
