If been stuck in the hospital for 3 days now. I know there is something they are not telling me, and I need to know.

Nathan is having a meeting about a new job. He won't tell me what it is, but I'm anxious to know. I'm sitting in bed, reading the latest addition of Hello magazine. There's a knock at the door.

"Come in." I say as I close the magazine and put it on the bedside table.

"Mrs Montgomery. The reason why we keep you in was to minister your baby. We thought there was a chance of you bleeding or an early delivery, but your child has proved us wrong. You will be able to go home this afternoon." Says the doctor.

"Thank you. I'm not sure what time it will be, but can I wait until my husband gets back from his work meeting?" I ask.

"I course. Take as much time as you need." Says the doctor.

The doctor leaves and I grab my phone to call Nathan. I'm not expecting him to answer, but I really want to tell him.

"Hello?" Says Nathan.

"Hi. The doctor said I can go home this afternoon." I say.

"Thats great!" Says Nathan.

"Nathan, what was this meeting about?" I ask.

"I think I should tell you in person." Says Nathan.

"No, tell me now." I say.

"Ok. I have been thinking about this for a few months now. It is going to give me a very good pay, but it will also force me to spend time away from family. Harper, as of January next year, I'm joining the army." Says Nathan.

"Uh, I, um." I say. My words stutter.

"Harper. Are you ok?" Asks Nathan.

"When do you start your training course?" I ask.

"I have a three month training course starting at the start of July. I get to come home every weekend though." Says Nathan.

"Wait, did you say at the start of July?' I exclaim.

"Yeah, why?" Says Nathan.

"There's a chance the baby could come at the start of July." I say.

"Harper. It doesn't matter where I am, I will be there at the birth of our child." Says Nathan.

"You promise?" I ask.

"I promise." Says Nathan.

"Ok. When can you get here cause I'm not leaving until you arrive at the hospital." I say.

"I'm on my way now, I'll be about 20 minutes." Says Nathan.

"Ok." I say.

I end the phone call and then start reading the magazine again. Twenty minutes pass and Nathan finally arrives.

"I missed you." I say.

"I missed you to." Says Nathan.

"Nw help me get dressed. I can't stand another moment longer in this hospital gown." I say.

Nathan helps me change into some maternity leggings, a oversized t-shirt and a zip up hoodie of his.

"Never have i ever seen a woman more good looking in my clothes than you." Says Nathan.

"Thank you. Can you go and see if you can get my discharge papers so we can get out of here." I say.

"Of course." Says Nathan.

Nathan leaves the room and comes back with a doctor. The doctor has a clipboard and pen and hands it to me. I sign where I am supposed to and then we leave.

"Glad to be home?" Asks Nathan as we walk through the front door.

"Yes. I can finally eat proper food and not what I think is a microwave meal." I say.

"You sit on the couch, put your feet up, do whatever. Don't move a muscle." Says Nathan.

"Nathan. I know I got hit by a car and have spent the last 4 days on hospital and I'm nearly 8 months pregnant, but you really don't have to do all this." I say.

"Yes I do, now sit down. You're visitor is arriving any minute." Says Nathan.

"What visitor?" I ask.

The door bell rings.

"That will be them." Says Nathan.

Nathan opens the door. I don't have the energy to turn my head so I keep straight. I feel a pair of hands cover my eyes.

"Guess who?" Says the mystery person.

"Aunt Rachel!" I almost scream.

She comes round and hugs me. She sits on the couch next to me and I'm almost crying.

"I haven't seen you since the wedding." I say.

"I know. It's been too long." I say.

"Wait, why are you here?" I ask.

"To see you silly. Nathan told me that you needed some family up north to come see you. He rang me up last week and I agreed to come and see my only niece." Says Rachel.

"How long are you here for?" I ask.

"2 weeks. Nathan said I could have the spare bedroom for the duration of my visit. I hope you don't mind." Says Rachel.

"No, not at all." I say.

"So, how is my great niece or nephew?" Asks my aunt.

"Well, he is fine." I say.

"It's a boy?" Squeals Rachel.

"Well, that's what the doctor said, but I'm not so sure." I say.

"Hmm. Have you got any names in mind?" Asks Rachel.

"I haven't. Have you Nathan?" I ask.

"Nope." Says Nathan making a pop sound on the p.

"Hey. Um, can I ask you a favour?" I say.

"Of course." Says Rachel.

"Well, the thing is, as of January next year, Nathan is joining the army. He is doing a three month training course that starts at the beginning of July. That's when the baby is due. Whilst he is gone, would you be able to stay with me for a bit, just to help me out because I'll be on my own?" I say avoiding eye contact.

"Harper. Of course I'll stay with you." Says Rachel.

"He gets to come back every weekend, but I still want you here. You're the closest thing I've got left to mum." I say.

"Honey, it's ok. Your mum may not be here in sight, but she's here in spirit." Says Rachel.

I wip my tears and then I go to the toilet. When I finish, I go into the kitchen. Nathan is cooking a roast for dinner but to be honest, I'm not that hungry.
