Nathan and I drove home. We left his car at the services since he insisted we drive together. We pull up to the house and we sit in silence for a few minutes.
"Why did you say it?" I ask.
"Harper. You know I'm sorry. I love you." Says Nathan.
"You didn't answer the question. Why?" I say.
"I don't know. But one th if I do know is that I love you I could never love anyone more than I love you and Lily." Says Nathan.
"Nathan. I love you to. But when you said what you said, my whole life stopped for those few moments. I felt like the floor beneath me had dissapered." I say.
"Look. I will do everything I can to make it up to you. I know that me going into the army is going to be hard. I know ok. I hate being away from you and Lily. I hate it so much." Says Nathan.
"Me too." I say.
We get out the car and go inside the house. Nathan is carrying her in her car seat. We go upstairs and get into bed.
"So, are we going to talk about it or forget?" Says Nathan.
"Just forget about it. I know you didn't mean it." I say.
"If you say it, then I'll say it back." Says Nathan.
"I love you." I say.
"I love you to." Says Nathan.
"Forever?" I say.
"Forever!" Says Nathan.
We fall asleep with Lily in between us. It's about 2:30 am, when I wake up to the noise of banging on the front door.
"Ok, ok, I'm coming!" I say as I go downstairs.
I look through the spy hole and see Dion. I open the door and Dion runs in screaming and crying.
"Dion, what's going on?" I ask.
"Its Andy. He's got the kids locked in the car. He won't let them come to me. He tried to stab me with a knife. I don't know what's got into him." Says Dion.
I try to hug her, but then she starts screaming again.
"Harper. Look out!" Says Dion.
I feel a sharp pain in my back.
"Help me!" I scream.
I sit up in bed with cold sweat running down my face. Nathan wakes up, but thank God Lily stays asleep.
"Hey, it's alright. What happened?" Asks Nathan.
"Bad dream. Dion. She came banging on the door and when I opened it, she started to say that her husband, Andy, had the kids locked in the car and he tried to hurt Dion. I hugged her and then Andy stabbed me." I say.
"Its alright. It was just a dream. It wasn't real." Says Nathan.
"Do you want me to put Lily in her cot?" I ask.
"I'll do it." Says Nathan.
"Ok." I say.
I give Lily a kiss before Nathan take her to her own room. He comes back and gets back into bed. I lay my head on his chest and he starts to play with my hair.
"What do you think Lily will be lile when she's older?" I ask.
"I think she'll be like you. She'll be bright, spontaneous, beautiful." Says Nathan.
"You think so?" I say.
"I know so. Hey, ice been meaning to ask, why didn't you go to the world championships?" Asks Nathan.
"Because, I had more important things to worry about. Anyway, I still have the shop, I'm just, not doing competitions any more." I say.
"Ok. What are you going to do tomorrow?" Asks Nathan.
"I'm going to take Lily to playgroup, go to work and then afterwards, if it's ok, I might go out with a few girls from school that I recently got in touch with?" I say.
"Of course you can go. You deserve it." Says Nathan.
"Ok. You'll be alright with Lily?" I ask.
"We'll be fine." Says Nathan.
"I love you." I say.
"I love you to." Says Nathan.
We go back to sleep and then I begin to have a nicer dream.
"Lily. Smile." I say to the blonde 3 year old.
"Mummy, mummy! Ducks!" Says Lily.
"Wow." I say.
I take some photos of Lily and Nathan. I soon wake up and its around 7:00 am. I roll over and see a note with my name on it.
"Harper. I feel so awful for leaving without saying. I wanted you and Nathan to resolve whatever their problem was without me in the way. I went back to Manchester. Give me a call. All my love, Rachel. Xxx" I say outloud.
I out the note in the drawer and then get up. I go into the bathroom and have a shower. Once I've was he my hair and body, I get out. I put on a simple t-shirt and black leggings with my white converse. I dry my hair then go to get alloy ready. I pick out a light pink top with a denim skirt and white tights with her white converse.
"Nathan, I'm taking Lily to playgroup. I'll be back later." I say.
"Ok." Says Natha, who is still half asleep.
Nathan gives me and Lily a kiss and then I go. I drop her off and then head straight to the shop. As soon as I arrive, I'm jaw dropped. Someone has vandalised the windows. No one broke in, but that paint is going tk be a nightmare to get off.
"999, what is your emergency?" Says the operator.
"I need the police to come to London's Mysteries on Poppy Street. The Windows have been vandalised." I say.
"Ok. We are sending an officer round now. What's the address?" Says the operator.
"45 Poppy Street." I say.
"Ok. An officer should be with you in about 10 minutes." Says the operator.
"Ok, thank you." I say.
The call ends and I sit in my car and wait, since it's freezing outside. 20 minutes pass and the police finally arrive.
"Are you Harper Montgomery?" Asks the officer.
"Yes." I say.
"Well, we can see you shop has been vandalised. Can we have a look at the CCTV?" Asks the officer.
"Yes, right this way." I say.
