Into The Future

Skip five years. I'll get you up to speed. The twins are now 7 and Lily is 9. My career was a success and I have been on a few tours. Nathan is still bag taking cancer. A new type of chemo was found and he responded almost instantly. Me and Nathan decided not to have another child as we thought it would put a strain on our relationship. Right now, I'm with Nathan at Lily's school talent show. She still does dance.

"Ok. Next up, we have Lily Montgomery, who is dancing to Dangerous Woman." The principal says.

The music starts and Lily performs. Once she is done, me, Nathan and the rest of the audience stand up to applaude. After the show, we go home and the kids go straight to bed.

"Wasn't she great?" I say.

"Yeah. I have to go into work tomorrow, early." I say.

"Ok. Can we go out for dinner tomorrow. All of us?" I ask.

"Sure. We haven't had a family meal out for a while." Nathan says.

I start to cook dinner for the kids. Once it's done, we sit at the table and start eating.

"Mom, dad, did you like my dancing?" Lily asks.

"I didn't like it. I loved it. It was probably the best I've ever seen you dance!" Nathan says.

"What about my solo at nationals. I got first place then. And I got first place at nationals last year." Lily says.

"That was phenomenal too. You're getting better every day." I say.

We continue to eat, but by 9:30, all the kids are in bed. Me and Nathan have a few drinks before going up to bed at half ten. I have to get up at 4:30, as Lily has dance at 5. After that, I'm coming home, getting ready properly and then off to work. I'm working on bringing out a new album.

"Nathan. I'm just gonna go down to target. I need feminine products. So yoy need anything?" I ask.

"No. Do you want me to go?" Nathan asks.

"No it's alright." I say.

I get out if bed and put some tracksuit bottoms on. I put my hoodie on top of a tank top and quickly go down to target. I'm back within 15 minutes. When I get back into bed, Nathan is sleeping. He looks like Lily when she was born. I take a picurw  d quickly get changed into my pyjamas. I quickly fall asleep, but my alarm rings through my ears at 4 am.

"Lil, you nearly ready?" I ask.

"Yeah. I'm just getting my shoes on." She replies.

"Ok. I'll be waiting downstairs." I say.

I go downstairs and then Lily comes down. She eats some toast and then I drive to ALDC. I stay for 15 minutes since I'm wide awake. All the original girls left a few years ago. Lily had so much fun with them, but now she is on the elite competition team. She is on it with 5 other girls.

"Lily. I'm gonna go home now. I have to go to the studio in a bit. Dad will pick you up later, ok?" I say.

"Bye mom. I love you." Lily says.

"I love you to baby." I say.

I walk out the building and  drive home. Nathan I'd getting ready. I lay in bed for a little longer, but just before Nathan goes off to work, he makes me a cup of tea. At around 6, the baby sitter comes over. I have to go to the studio sometimes early in the morning so she drops them to school if Nathan can't.

"Thank you so much Lucy. Kids, be good. I love you." I say.

I drive to work and as soon as I park my car, I go straight to the cafeteria for a coffee. After that, I go to my normal set up and my manager is waiting for me.

"You and me have a meeting with the team. They want to announce something." My manager says.

"What? Can you tell me?" I ask.

"Nope. It's a secret." My manager says.

"Pleeeeeeeease." I beg.

"No." My manager says.

"If it's good, which I'm presuming it is, I promise to still act surprised." I say.

"Harper. No." My manager says.

"Fine. I see how it is." I say.

I start recording recording few songs. On my break, I go outside to walk to the café. Just as I pass through the door, I bump into someone.

"I'm so sorry I didn't see you." I say.

"Why are you talking to me?" The man asks.

"I was just apologising for bumping into you." I say.

"What's your name?" The man asks.

"Harper." I say nervously.

"Well, my names Bolton and if you bump into me one more time, I swear to freaking God, I will become your worst nightmare." He says through gritted teeth.

He walks away and I hurry inside, shaken slightly. I sit back in my section and then start writing. Then I call Nathan since he should be on his break.

"You alright?" I ask

"Yeah, you ok, you don't sound right." Nathan says.

"Oh it's nothing." I say.

"Tell me." Nathan says.

"I was walking to Starbucks and I bumped into this man called Bolton. He said if I bump into him again, he will become my worst nightmare. I think he meant it Nathan." I say.

"Just ignore him. He's probably just trying to scare you." Nathan says.

"Babe. I have to go. Meeting with the team. I love you so much." I say.

"I love you too." Nathan says.

I end the call and then quickly go outside. I get my folder from my bag and then I bump into Bolton again.

"What the hell did I tell you?" Bolton asks.

"I'm sorry. Why are you still here anyway?" I ask.

"None of your business, but now that you bumped into me again, I am going to be your worst nightmare. Say goodbye to all your happiness." Bolton says with an evil smile befire walking across the road.

I gulp before walking inside. I walk into the meeting room and sit down. 20 minutes pass and the team manager is finally about to tell me what they want to announce.

"Ok. Harper. We have all been talking and we all think it would be a really good idea if you write a book." Mel says.

"Are you serious?" I ask.

"Yeah!" Mel says.

I get up and hug Mel. I text Hanna and Nathan the news and then I playfully slap my managers arm. Then the worst thing possible happens. Bolton bursts in with three other people. They all have guns.

"Everybody stay where you are!" Bolton screams.

I start to silently cry. This is not happening.

"I told you I am gonna be your worst nightmare." Bolton says.

After that day, I never saw my family again.
