I've been at Nathan's side for four hours now. Connor went to get the kids and take them home. Nathan hasn't woken up yet and the hospital is really busy today so he hasn't been able go for scans and tests yet.

"I know you're not in a coma, but please wake up Nathan. I need to see those beautiful blue orbs of yours. I need for me to kiss you and for you to kiss back." I say as I hold his hand.

I kiss his forehead and quickly to to the café. I get a hot chocolate and a muffin and then go back to Nathan's room. A nurse comes in and she gently shakes Nathan.  He wakes up and I start crying tears of joy.

"What happened?" Nathan asks.

"I'll give you two five minutes, but then you need to go for tests." He nurse says.

She leaves and I hug Nathan. I give him a kiss and then sit back down.

"You didn't answer my question. What happened?" Nathan asks.

"You collapsed at work. Your body has stopped reacting to he most recent dose of chemo." I say.

"So what happens now?" Nathan asks as he looks away.

"Hey. Look at me. Look at me Nathan." I say as I pull his face so our eyes connect.

"You basically just told me that I'm about to die!" Nathan says.

"Don't. Don't you dare say that. You are not going to die. The doctors will find something else." I say.

The nurse comes back in and Nathan is taken for scans. I decide to Face Time Hanna since I text her earlier.

"Hey." Hanna says.

"Hey." I say.

"How are you doing?" Hanna asks.

"Ok I guess." I say.

"He's going to be fine. I promise." Hanna says.

"I hope he'll be fine soon. We were going to come to England for a week in two. But with this going on, we may have to postpone for even longer." I say.

"It's ok. You have bigger things to worry about." Hanna says.

"It's not fair though. I want to be able to see my niece and my nephew for that matter." I say.

"Harper. I know you want to see them, but you need to concentrate on your own family first." Hanna says.

"Look, I need to go. I need to call Connor to see if the kifs are ok." I say.

"Ok. Stay strong." Hanna says.

I end the call and then 20 minutes later, Nathan comes back. I hug him and then he speaks up.

"Where are the kids?" Nathan asks.

"Connor sorted something with my manager and he surprised me. I asked him to pick the kids up and take them home." I say.

"Oh." Nathan says.

"What's wrong, talk to me." I say.

"What if I die? What if I don't make it to Christmas? What is I don't make it to the twins' birthday?" Nathan asks.

I start crying again.

"Don't say that." I say.

"Why? Because I'm only saying what you're thinking. Look me in the eye and tell me since you got that call saying I was rushed to hospital, that you haven't thought of the worst!" Nathan says.

"Ok. When I was driving here, I questioned everything." I say.

"So how am I supposed to believe you when you say you won't die?" Nathan asks.

"Nathan stop." I say.

"Why?" Nathan asks.

The nurse comes in.

"Is everything alright?" I ask.

"We have your scan and test results." The nurse says.

"Well?" Nathan asks.

"Tests confirm that your body has stopped accepting the chemo. Although your type of cancer is a blood cancer, a tumor has started to form in your neck so we are go I to have to operate." The nurse says.

"What are my survival rates?" Nathan asks.

"70 percent." The nurse says.

"What are the chances of me slipping into that 30 percent?" Nathan asks.

"Mr Montgomery, our surgeon's have done this surgery hundreds of times. You needn't worry." The nurse says.

"Ok. When will I be having my operation?" Nathan asks.

"We at going to book it now. Hopefully tomorrow." The nurse says.

"Ok. Thank you." Nathan says.

The nurse leaves and I hug Nathan.

"I'm gonna die for sure!" Nathan says.

"No. You are a fighter! Didn't you hear her? You have a 70 percent survival rate. That's more than half!" I say.

"Why don't I believe you?" Nathan asks.

"Why do you think I'm lying?" I ask.

"I don't know what to believe anymore! Just go home. Look after the kids and if you're up to it, come back tomorrow! Maybe then you can tell me the truth!" Nathan says.

I start crying for the billionth time today. I grab my bag and then go. I get into my car and drive home. I park the car and walk inside the house.

"Mummy!" Lily shouts.

All thee of my kids run towards me and hug my legs. I bend down so I'm level with them and I hug them tightly.

"Thank you so much for looking after them Connor." I say as I stand up and the kids go back to playing.

"It was my pleasure. How's Nathan doing?" Connor asks.

"Tests confirmed his body isn't accepting chemo. Although his cancer is in his blood, a tumor has started to form in his neck." I say.

Connor hugs my and I wioe my tears away. We say our goodbye's and rhen Connor gets a taxi to his hotel.

"Mummy. Where's daddy?" Sophie asks.

"Right. Let's sit down." I say to Lily, Charlie and Sophie.

We are sitting on the sofa. It's only right that they know.

"Babies. Your daddy. Hes in the hospital." I say.

"Why?" Charlie asks.

"Because he's a bit porely at the moment. He needs a special operation to make him better." I say.

"Is daddy going to die?" Sophie asks.

Is he? Is my husband going to be a victim of cancer?

"I don't know." Is all I manage to get out before crying again.

"Don't cry mummy. Daddy will get better." Lily says as she hugs me.

I hug my kids and then cook them dinner. After eating, I put them to bed and then take another shower. Once I'm dried and dressed, I get into bed.

"Nathan?" I say as the call connects.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"I always say good night to you and you always say it to me. You're not in bed so..." I say.

"Goodnight baby. I love you so much." Nathan says.

"I love you to." I say.

Nathan ends the call, both of us knowing there is nothing more to say.

It has been a hard day and things are only going to get harder.
