My grandad has been in a coma for a month. His condition hasnt changed  and Im starting to loose hope. After bying the packet of cigarettes, I only smoked 5 of them and then threw them away, vowing, never to smoke again. Anyway, I'm sitting at my nan and grandads house with Nathan and the kids.

"We have to go back soon, we both have work and the Lily starts school next week." I say.

"I know. How about we go home tomorrow and you can always face time Rachel to check up on your grandad?" Nathan asks.

"Ok." I say.

We start to kiss, but then my phone starts ringing.

"Hello?" I say.

"Harper. It's me." My nan says.

"What's happened?" I ask.

"Because of his age, it made things worse." My nan says.

"What's happened." I say as I try to hold back the tears.

"The doctor came in and said that there is nothing they can do. He will wake up, but will die withing the first month of waking." My nan says.

I let the tears free and then I end the call. I cry into Nathan's shoulder and he comforts me.

"We have to leave. Right now." I say as I go upstairs and get my bags.

I pack everything and then when I get downstairs, I get the twins and out their shoes on.

"Harper. Slow down." Nathan says as he tears me away from Charlie.

"There are too many bad memories around here and you are all getting hurt. I cant let you all suffer anymore." I say.

I put everything into Nathan's car and then I put the twins in. After them, Lily gets in.

"Harper. Slow down." Nathan says.

"I'm sorry. I just want to get out of here as soon as possible." I say.

I lock the doors and get into the car. Nathan is driving.

"Mummy. Can you sing?" Lily asks.

"What song bubba?" I ask.

"The song you sing to me when I don't want to go to Gym and Dance." Lily says.

"The climb?" I ask.

"Yeah!" Lily says.

"I can almost see it. That dream I'm dreaming. But, there's a voice inside my head saying. You'll never reach it. Every step I'm taking. Every move I'm make feels lost with no direction. My faith is shaking. But I. I gotta keep trying. Gotta keep my head held high. There's always gonna be another mountain. I'm Amway gonna wanna make it moved always gonna be an uphill battle. Sometime I'm gonn have to loose. Ain't about how fast I get there. Ain't about what's waiting on the other side. It's the climb."

"That was really good mummy!" Lily says.

"Thank you baby." I say.

"Have you heard anything from the record label?" Nathan asks.

"Yes and no." I say.

"What do you mean by yes and no?" Nathan asks.

"Yes, because they have e-mailed me saying they have received my demo, but know becaus that's all they have said." I say.

"Ok. I'm sure they will love it." Nathan says.

"I don't think so." I say.

"Then why did you send it to them?" Nathan asks.

"I don't know. I wasn't thinking." I say.

"See. If you don't believe in yourself, then how can we believe in you?" Nathan asks.

"I don't know." I say.

"You need to start bein more positive." Nathan says.

"Nathan, please. I'm going through a tough time." I say.

"And you think I'm not?" Nathan says.

The kids are to busy to notice we are on our way to starting an argument.

"How are you going through a tough time Nathan? What's so bad in your life that it's bothering you?" I ask.

"My dad!" Nathan says.

"What has your dad got to do with any of this?" I ask.

"I told you that my dad died of a heart attack when I was 19. I lied. Yes, he died when I was 19, but not of a heart attack." Nathan says.

"What did he die of then?" I ask.

"Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It's a form of Leukaemia." Nathan says.

"And." I say.

"And I found a lump in my neck." Nathan says.

I nearly scream, but I don't want to scare the kids.

"Daddy. What's hog kin lifoama?" Lily asks.

"Don't worry about it sweetheart." Nathan says.

For the next 3 hours, not a woe is said. The kids are sleeping, so I take this chance to speak.

"When did you find the lump?" I ask.

"Last week." Nathan says.

"Why didn't you tell me Nathan?" I ask in a comforting tone.

"You had your grandad to deal with." Nathan.

"You're important too. You could have cancer." I say.

"I know. Will you stand by me? If I do have cancer?" Nathan asks.

"Of course I will. I will stand by you, even If you don't." I say.

"Thank you." Nathan says.

"When we get home. You will go to work. Tell people if you want to. It's your choice, but on Saturday, we are going to the doctor's." I say.

"Ok." Nathan says.

We pull into a services. I recognise it.

"This is where we had our massive fight. This is where we made up." Nathan says.

"I don't wanna talk about that." I say.

"If I do have hodgkin's disease and I die before we move to America, will you still go? Make the kids dreams come true and if I die, promise to move there." Nathan says.

"I promise." I say.

I wake the kids and then we go into the sort of restaurant palor/shopping centre. We eat at McDonald's and after about 40 minutes, we leaves and I take over in driving.

"You sure you're ok to drive?" Nathan asks.

"Yeah. You drove half the way." I say.

Nathan doesn't fall asleep, but the kids do. We arrive home a few hours later and I carry Lily up to bed, and Nathan waits with the twins. We take one each and I lock the car. We go inside and out the twins to bed. Then we decide to sit on the couch for a while.

"You are the strongest woman I have ever met." Nathan says.

"Really?" I ask sarcastically.

"Really. You have taken on so much, and you got through it." Nathan says.

"I love you." I say.

"I love you to." Nathan says.

We start to kiss and then we start watching 'The Fundamentals Of Caring'.
