I'm driving home from work and I'm crying. Nathan still isn't back, Lily is being a nightmare at the moment. Everything is just a mess. When I pull up to the drive, there's another car parked outside. Its not mine. Its not Nathan's. Its not Dion's. It's not Rachel's. I get out the car and as soon as I open the front door, I see that the whole of the downstairs is covered with decorations and balloons.
"Rachel?" I shout.
"Not Rachel. Your husband." Says Nathan.
I look up to the top of the stairs and see Nathan holding his arms out. He comes down and I hug him tightly.
"Where'sthe birthday girl then?" Asks Nathan.
"She's at playgroup. I needed to come home because I forgot my purse and I needed to get somethjng after work for her. Is this all for Lily?" I ask.
Nathan nods.
"She's going to love it. You weren't supposed to come home for another three days." I say.
"You think I was going to miss my first child's first birthday?" Says Nathan.
"Shall we go and get her?" I ask.
"We shall." Says Nathan.
We take my car and drive towards the playgroup. Nathan really is the romantic one on this relationship.
"How long did it take you to prepare all of this?" I ask.
"About 3 hours. People are coming over aswell." Says Nathan.
"Who?" I ask.
"Hailey, Hanna, Rahchel, your nan, your grandad, Dion and Rykard." Says Nathan.
"You know Hanna is about 5 months pregnant." I say.
"Since when?" Asks Nathan.
"Basically. When we went on a girl's night out, we went from the nightclub to Dean's party and Hanna and Rykard has sex. She didn't even know for four months." I say.
"Woah. Does she know if it's a boy or a girl?" Asks Nathan.
"It's a boy." I say.
"Are they sure. It may turn out a girl." Says Nathan.
"They are sure." I say.
We arrive at the nursery and I tell Nathan to stand just outside the room so it will be s surprise for Lily. I go inside and find her playing with a boy on the play mat.
"Hey Lily." I say as I pick her up.
I give her a cuddle and then sign her out. I collect her things and when I step outside the room, she squeals when she see's Nathan.
"Dada!" Lily says.
Lily can sort of talk. She can say mama, dada, Didi (meaning Dion and Ray (meaning Rachel).
"Hey princess!" Nathan says.
He takes Lily from me and we walk back to the car. We parked it outside the nursery as it was busy. When we get to the car, we find a group of boy's and girls around the age of 16-19 sitting on the front of the car and on the roof and leaning against it.
"Excuse me. Can you move? This is my wife's car and we want to go home so we can enjoy our daughter's birthday." says Nathan.
"You're the woman off the Xfactor, aren't you?" says one of the girls.
"Yeah, why?" I say.
"You can't even sing." Says the girl.
"Did you not hear me? I said move." Says Nathan.
The move aside, but stay by the car. I go to put Lily in her car seat. I manage to strap her in and close the door. One of the girls pulls me back by my hair.
"Harper!" Says Nathan.
The girl lets go.
"Look. We don't know who you are or what you want or why you decided to sit on our car, but can you just go." Says Natahn.
"Whatever. Boring here anyway. Sitting outside a nursery. Let's go." Says the girl.
As they walk away, we can hear what one of them is saying.
"Why did you have to go and pull her hair? She is probably gonna tell the police now!" Says a boy.
"I felt lile it ok." Says the girl.
They eventually disappear round the corner and we drive off. We manage to drive pass them and they hardley notice. We get back to the house and everyone has arrived.
"Happy birthday Lily." Says Rachel.
"Hanna, can I talk to you?" I ask.
"Sure." Says Hanna.
We leave the room and then go out in the garden.
"You only look about 2 months." I say.
"My mum was tiny with me and mys brother. She said she had to turn to the side in pictures so you soul be able to notice the bump." Says Hanna.
"So, how is Rykard taking it?" I ask.
"He loves it. He is so excited to be a dad." Says Hanna.
"Do you think you'll marry him?" I ask.
"Maybe. What did you actually want to talk to me about?" Asks Hanna.
"I just wanted to know if you were ok? You haven't answered the phone in like a week. You are ok? Right?" I ask.
"I'm fine. Look, it's your daughters birthday. You should enjoy this time." Says Hanna.
We go back inside and enjoy the party. Then we sing happy birthday and take more vidoes and pictures. The rest of the party goes quickly and me and Nathan finally find ourselves in bed.
"When do you have to go back?" I ask.
"I get 2 weeks off, but then I have to go back for 6 months." Says Nathan.
"So you are going to miss our 2 year wedding anniversary and Christmas?" I say feeling a little disheartened.
"Look. I will try. I will try so hard to be there to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary because I know how much it means to you. I want to be there for our second Christmas as a married couple, but, I can't promise anything." Says Nathan.
I turn on my side away from bath Nathan so he can't see me crying. I feel his arms snake around x my waist my I don't move. I stay awake most of the night thinking, but Nathan is sleeping. Why does such a perfect day have to be ruined?
