Dragging you by the arm, Riddle rushed away from Avery's corpse, yanking your alongside him as you remained at a loss of words. He led you into one of his own hideouts - the room of requirement.
Once he finally released you, secure in a private place, as if it hit you again, you couldn't help but turn bitter "How could you just pull me away like that, we are witnesses to murder, we have to tell someone"
"You silly tw--" - Riddle paused, trying to maintain his composure "Are you some incompetent?" - he sneered "You wish for us to get caught and interrogated?"
"We've done nothing wrong" - you replied
"False. As of tonight you're an alibi to torture and a potential suspect of slaughter"
"But a student is dead, they'll find out"
"As far as I'm concerned we shall deny any accusations"
"It wasn't us though, Tom, we shouldn't be afraid and act like nothing happened"
"Nobody will care."
"What in bloody hell are we going to do then? Just move on?"
"Precisely. Not a thing." - he smirked, mockingly "Unless your intelligence shall find out the identity of the murderer" - he puzzled your silenced lips "But as for now we shall stay silent."
Suddenly, you noticed a certain object quietly standing in the centre of the room with not a single thing around it. You've seen this object before - it was the lone mirror of erised.
But what was it doing in the room of requirement during Tom's era? Some things already happened that shouldn't of have. For example Avery's death. It was quite ironically painful since your goal was to save lives - not to get them killed.
As you approached the relic, Tom noticed your curiosity "It is a useless toy" - he followed you to the mirror "It is not of normal sorts, just a plaything for the ones who are silly and vulnerable to dreams"
"Everyone is vulnerable to dreams." - you gulped at the reflection it presented, you knew what it showed - your deepest desire. Your eyes widened to see everything around you drowned in dark mist, hundreds of bodies laid silently behind as if it was a grand massacee. Your body was drenched in fresh blood as your hand clenched the elder wand. Right beside you stood a smirking Tom who had sneaked a devious, poisonous kiss to your cheek.
This was not who you were, you did not believe it, terrified, you looked behind you to make sure the reflection wasn't reality.
Intrigued, Tom gazed into your startled eyes "What do you see?" - he lifted his chin, flashing a small smirk of curiosity.
"Huh?" - you snapped from the vision of the mirror, stepping away from it "N-nothing."
"Do not lie." - Tom replied "I'll tell you what I see in return." - he stepped in front of the mirror and immediately, his smirk dissappeared off his face.
The only thing he was pleased with was the same elder wand clenched in his hand as he was looking down at a powerful army and a dead body of dumbledore. But what he was surprised with was your smiling figure dressed in black clothes, wrapped around his other arm.
Seeing this, Tom flashed a vulnerable, worried expression. "Nevermind.""This is definitely not the future or anything, right?"
He nodded "It isn't." - Riddle was flustered, lost in his words. He was very puzzled about his feelings towards you and each day his emotions were harder to brush off. It hard for him to figure himself out at all.
Suddenly, the halls outside the room echoed loudly with gossiping students who were being pushed and told around by the teachers.
The moment it fell silent again, you and Tom sneaked out of the room and sneakily dashed towards the commotion.
The main hall was filled with every single student of hogwarts, most still wearing their pijamas. Headmaster Armando Dippet placed his wand's tip to his neck in order to cast the amplifying charm and make his voice louder "SILENCE!!!"
Suddenly, the room turned silent as the students felt too startled to even make a sound. Watching everyone settle down in fear and confusion, Dippet proceeded "A student was found murdered outside the school of Hogwarts" - alongside dippet, Slughorn and the rest of the teachers were inspecting student's faces, watching for any clues of disclosure. Dippet resumed "From now on students will NO LONGER be allowed to leave the grounds of Hogwarts untill the ministry of magic establishes the guilty behind this bloodshed"There were loud groans and mutterings spreading throughout the whole room. Annoyed, this time Dumbledore amplified his own tone "QUIET" - he observed the crowd, slowly shifting his eyes at Tom "If there is a murderer in our mists, Hogwarts will not rest until he is caught. From now on, the curfew will be shorter and every student shall be under the suveillance of every professor" - as the students started moaning again, Dumbledore overpowered their chatter "No one goes in, no one goes out."

After the gathering you and Tom headed back to the room of requirement. Standing by the fireplace, Riddle sneered "I bet that old fool is suspicious of me"
"I mean... can you blame him? After the chamber of secrets and the murder of Myrtle?"
"That's in the past, it should not bother the old bag"
"I mean... it is sort of your fault we are in this situation"
Displeased, Tom frowned "Pardon? You silly girl, I did it for you"
"No, you've tortured him for your own sick, sadistic pleasure and then he was killed. We couldn't even see who it was simply because you decided to drag me away instead of letting me run after the shadow!"
"Hmph" - Riddle scowled "Ungrateful chaff"
"I do not know what that means but I'll assume you just insulted me" - you folded your arms, continuing to ramble "Honestly, there is noone you'd do anything for, besides yourself. Or unless there is a benefit for you. All you care about is that stupid diary which is possibly the only thing that helps you sleep at night" - your hands shook at the uncontrollable bitterness rushing through your body "And if I had never met you, the boy might even still be breathing regardless if he was filth, he did not deserve it"
Tom looked very, very angry, clenching his fists and biting on his lip, he was doing his best to keep his anger within "You little... is that how much you think of me..." - Riddle expanded his hogwarts coat and from the inside pocket, he yanked his diary out "Potions. Curses. Experiments. All in this" - he lifted his book "All my life's production." - With one rushed hand movement, Tom threw his diary into the fireplace and watched its pages burn to ashes before glancing back at you "Means nothing compared to..." - but he stopped himself from proceeding, as if chocking on his words "Forget it."
Looking at the burnt book and inhaling the scent of smoke, your jaw dropped as your eyes widened. What the fuck dude.
Was he weak now or was it deceit? He grew close with you but he is still the same, cold, brutal torturer who does not sympathize with anyone. Anyone except you it seemed. But with his diary gone, there was no longer a chance of it turning into a horocrux.
Yet you did not know how to react.
