The prince and the pauper

A/n: was this inspired by princess and the pauper? Yes. Will there be more parts? Yes

Au: you are a poor seamstress. One day you happen to meet the prince of the kingdom, unusual to see him out and  about as there is tension with the neighboring kingdom of Kira...

Paying off debt isn't so fun, even though you've paid off more than half, there's still an interest you have to pay. Sure, you're parents borrowed the money to keep you alive, but now you're stuck in a stupid dress emporium sewing for half your life.

Ah yes, Wammy's Kingdom. A lovely little kingdom on the smaller side, but a powerful one as the current prince is a powerful man. Prince L, son of King Quillish 'Watari' Wammy. Next in line to the throne and the only royal in all the lands to be adopted. At first it was outrage that he wasn't royal blood, but when the kingdom saw how good of a prince we was, things simmered down, and three new princes were adopted into the family. Nate 'Near' River, Mail 'Matt' Jeevas and Mihael 'Mello' Keehl. The process of adopting these boys successfully created a new generation.

When L eventually becomes king and then retires, one of the three princes will take his place. As L is the oldest prince, he's doing a ton of royal duties and is in charge of catching any criminals around the kingdom. The problem is... there's a neighbouring kingdom that isn't too friendly with the Wammy royal family.

The Yagami kingdom.

Prince Light and his bride-to-be princess Amane from the Amane kingdom were having their kingdoms merge to rise in power, and were determined to take over as many kingdoms as they could. They wanted to overthrow the Wammy kingdom but L was not going to let that happen.

And the final problem on his hands was the mystery murder that's been striking smaller kingdoms, known as Kira. He was obviously someone from a bigger kingdom, trying to weaken the smaller kingdoms so they go to the bigger ones for aid, creating a gateway to overthrow them.

Even if you were just a seamstress, you liked to keep an eye on the situation as you didn't want your kingdom to merge either. But your number one priority was to pay off your debt, even though it was a tough job. You did anything you could on the side to get the money, including sing.

So whenever you went on breaks, you'd busk in the town centre in hopes of getting some extra money. And that's what you were doing right now.

You'd gathered a small crowd, you were quite happy with your performance, you'd gathered some decent money in your bag from people walking by. But of course, all of that had to come to a halt when the owner of the debtors prison- ah- dress emporium... caught you.

"What do you think you're doing out here?"

You stopped singing and turned to see the witch of an owner behind you. Most people watching sensed you'd be in trouble and left.

"It's my break, I can do what I like when I'm on break!" You huffed.

She picked up the bag and took all the coins out.

"Keep dreaming, you'll be working for me for the next 87 years" she said.

"But I've already paid off more than half my debt!"

"There's an interest to pay as well, your parents should have thought of that when they borrowed so much"

"They did it to feed me!"

"Their mistake..." she scoffed, walking off with your money.

Well... you would have had to pay it anyway...

You sighed, turning back around and suddenly being face-to-face with a hooded figure.

"Oh! Sorry!" You apologised, thinking you'd accidentally run into him.
