Colby's POV

As soon as Sam had fallen asleep, there was a quiet knock on my door. I didn't say anything, assuming the person would get the message. Elton's head popped in after about a minute.

"He ok?" He whispered. I nodded, scratching behind Sams ears softly.

"I wanted to help, but I didn't wanna scare him." He said as he took a seat on my office chair. I smiled at him, grateful that I could count on him.

"Don't you have to go to Kansas soon?" He said suddenly. I looked at him confused before remembering, I had booked a flight home to see my family. I had been planning to surprise my mom for her birthday and had booked it long before we got Sam.

"Shit." I mumbled, causing Elton to let out a nose exhale. I glared at him for a brief moment.

"I can take care of him Colby, your only going for a few days." He said reassuringly.

"I know but three days is a long time for him." I whispered and sighed. He could barely handle 30 minuets without me. Yes it was better but I was gunna be gone for 3 days.

"Oh I forgot about that." Elton said, wide eyed. I started stressing, I could always cancel the flight, everyone would understand. As if he read my thoughts, Elton spoke, "You are not canceling your flight, you need to see your family. Just talk to Sam later today, we can figure something out."

He smiled when I nodded. Once he left the room, I laid back down with Sam. I gave him a small kiss on the head as I started to doze off.
