"Rosie," you mumbled again, glancing over at her to find her still looking anywhere but at you.

She was obviously upset; with her arms folded over her chest and her lips tugged into a frown that hasn't faded. She wasn't clenching her jaw like she would if she were angry.

But rather, every time she'd look at you from the corner of her eyes or you'd lean forward to try to get a better look at her, you'd see the sadness swimming in her usually bright eyes. It only made you feel worse to know that the reason behind them was all because of you.

You sighed and scooted closer to her and you knew if there was any more space on the couch for her to scoot further away from you, she would've. Your fingers danced along her spine but she pushed your hand away.

"Baby," you whispered sadly and leaned in to kiss her shoulder, planning to pepper her soft skin with all the kisses you could give. "I'm sorry."

"Stop," she mumbled and looked you in the eyes for the first time since you walked through the door. "I'm not in the mood for this." She sighed and shook her head to look away again. "You know how much I love you, how much I love it when you kiss me... but you can't kiss it better, y/n."

You hung your head with sadness. You knew it was true. No amount of kisses could fix the hurt in her heart tonight. Not when she was crushed about you forgetting your date; the one she planned and made so special tonight.

A candlelit dinner, your favorite food made by the woman who loves you with all of her heart and soul, and a bath with rose petals leading all the way up the stairs. It was all ruined by you forgetting about this special night and not realizing until you walked through the door after pulling extra hours, finding the food cold, and your girlfriend in tears.

"You tell me you're sorry and I want to believe you are. I know you, y/n. I know you are. But... I want you to show it, too. Not just by saying that you're sorry or trying to kiss me or hug me to make it better. I waited for hours. This is my first day off in weeks and you forgot."

You inched your hand closer to hers until your palm rested on her knuckles. To your relief, she didn't pull away. But she didn't exactly melt into your touch, either.

"I try to never forget the things important to you." She mumbled.

"I know." You sighed. "I really am sorry, baby. You know I'd never do it on purpose. I'm just losing track of my days. But I love you,"

She turned to look at you and she couldn't help but crack a small smile at your words, though she tried hard not to let it show.

"I love you with all of my heart, more than I've ever loved anyone else. You're important to me, the most important thing, and I'm so sorry I forgot about our special night. You went out of your way to make it so special and I ruined it and I feel awful."

She sniffled and sank her teeth into her lip.

"But you have tomorrow off too, right?'

She nodded slowly.

"Then let me make it up to you. I will prove how sorry I am. I'll give you two choices: I can make dinner for you to make it up to you or I can take you to your favorite place for a beautiful dinner. I'll do whatever one you want and, to top the night off, I'll buy you ice cream or we can come home and I'll run us a bath with all of the rose petals you want."

She chuckled happily and intertwined your fingers.

"I want to make it up to you. I want to prove to you how sorry I am. I'd never purposely forget something so important to you, to me. I just lost track of my days and I-" You paused and took a deep breath before closing your eyes and shaking your head. "No excuses. I'm very sorry, baby, and I mean it wholeheartedly. Please let me make it up to you?"

Another tear fell from her eye and down her cheek. You reached up to wipe it away, brushing your thumb gently under her eyes and watching as they lit up.

"They're not tears of sadness this time." She assured. "I'd like that. I don't really care what we do, y/n. I just want to be with you. It's all I ever want."

"Me too. I'm sorry I let you down."

"It's okay." She whispered and leaned in to kiss your lips lovingly. "Just don't forget tomorrow's date, okay?"

You laughed and pulled her closer and she couldn't help but sigh against your lips as she let herself melt into your touch.

"It'll be hard to forget when I'll be spending every second of every minute right by your side tomorrow,"

She leaned in and kissed you again before burying her face in your neck as she hugged you tight. She was obviously relieved that everything was okay again and looked forward to your date tomorrow, but not nearly as much as you did.
