The warehouse was eerily empty as they walked inside, weapons at the ready.

"Magnus' lair is right behind that fence," Izzy said as she pointed it out.

"Magnus lives in a warehouse?" Clary asked.

"Not exactly. Warlock glamour," Jace explained and Serena finally realised what that feeling in the pit of her stomach was.

"Something's wrong," she noted. "We're too close. Magnus would never let us get this close. His wards are down," Serena explained and her husband turned to Clary.

"You," he said as she looked at him. "Don't get in the way."

Clary only glared at him before Serena took off running.

"Oh, god! Valentine found Magnus!" Clary yelled as she saw a rogue Shadowhunter fighting a warlock, the scene that Serena was running towards.

"ZOEY!" she screamed as she blocked the blade that was set to cut the young warlock's head from her shoulders. Serena pushed him off as the girl ran to her.

"Serena!" she cried as she clung to the Shadowhunter, Serena shielding her with her body as she held a sword out.

The bald man smirked at her as he readied his sword again. "Serena Wayland. Still sympathizing with the Downworld? Valentine will love the opportunity to kill you."

"It's Lightwood," the blonde said calmly.

"Huh?" the man asked, arm paused almost above his head.

"My name is Serena Lightwood."

And Izzy's whip wrapped around his arm as his sword fell on it, Jace sending a throwing knife into his heart as he collapsed to the ground.

Serena nodded thanks to her parabatai before giving her brother nothing but a brief glance and walking off with Zoey clutched to her side.

"Thank you for the help, Alexander," Magnus said as he inspected the dead body of the Shadowhunter who had an arrow through his leg.

"Anytime," he replied as he returned his second arrow to his quiver, warlocks gathering their things now that the fight was over, ready to flee again, and this time not be found.

"Magnus," came Serena's voice as she walked in with Zoey under her arm.

The warlock sighed in relief as he dropped to his knees to hug the young girl. "Go with the others, my dear. This is no place for you," he whispered to her and she nodded as another warlock came to guide her away.

"You truly are an angel, Angel," Magnus said to Serena. "You saved Zoey's life."

"Not her father's though."

Magnus put both hands on her shoulders. "There is a reason why we support you as Envoy to the Downworld. You saved dozens of Downworld lives today, which is more than what most Shadowhunters would do. So, thank you. May I?" he asked, and she furrowed her brows until Magnus pointed to the graze on her arm.

Alec stiffened when he saw her injured, but relaxed as the blue hue of Magnus's magic stitched up her skin and wiped away the blood, as if it never happened.

Clary then stormed in, ready to demand her memories of Magnus, but he spoke before she could.

"I will summon the demon to retrieve your memories as payment for you all fighting off the Circle, but you must make the demand."

Clary steadied herself in her heels. "I will do whatever I have to do."

"Very well. But we cannot do it here. The lair's location has been compromised. Hold tight everyone," Magnus announced as his magic pulsated from his hands. "We're about to move."
