Izzy had gone to Edom.... by herself.

She'd convinced Meliorn to allow her through the Seelie portals and into the demonic realm. And while it appeared as they could do nothing, Clary then suggested an idea. A rune.

She wanted to try and create a rune that would bind Shadowhunters to Downworlders, like a temporary parabatai rune that would allow them to share similarities, powers and immunities, such as the immunity people with demon blood had to the demonic atmosphere of Edom.

"Lorenzo, thank you for coming on such short notice," Serena greeted the warlock.

"Thank you for restoring me. It would seem that I owe it to you, but I am also here for my fellow warlocks, despite what Bane did," he replied.

Apparently, Magnus had had quite the encounter with Lorenzo, the bout resulting in Magnus transforming the High Warlock of Brooklyn into a lizard, the lizard he'd kept at his apartment.

"Ah, Meliorn, envoy of the Queen," Lorenzo greeted.

"Mr Rey," Meliorn responded.

"And Mr Lewis, "Royal Blue" himself. I can appreciate a good melody when I hear one," Lorenzo said and Simon smiled in surprise.

"Thank you," he replied.

"I see the representative for the wolves has yet to arrive. As my first act on the Downworld Council, I move that we start the proceedings without him. Give a dog too much leash, and they never learn to heel," Lorenzo remarked.

"Actually, this isn't a council meeting. I need your help to save my sister and Magnus," Serena explained as Jace, Clary and Alec came over.

"Help you save the warlock who turned me into a reptile, left to dine on dead flies? May he spend eternity in Edom. Goodbye and good riddance."

Lorenzo turned to leave, but Serena grabbed his arm, turning the warlock back to face her.

"You are going to do this because Magnus wouldn't have turned you into a reptile without good reason, you owe him. And you owe me. All of you owe me," she said letting go of Lorenzo and looking back at Simon and Meliorn.

"This isn't just about Magnus," Jace said.

"It's also about Izzy," Simon added.

"And the fate of every other living creature on the planet," Clary pointed out.

"Help us, and you'll forever be known as Lorenzo Rey, the warlock who helped save the world," Alec said, trying to feed into the warlock's ego in hopes he'd help.

Lorenzo was in after that.

They'd all paired off, needing a Downworlder bound to a Shadowhunter for it to work.

Serena, luckily enough, didn't need a partner, seeing as the test they'd run on her confirmed that there was still heavenly fire in her system. And that coupled with her angelic blood would be able to protect her from the demonic essence of Edom. But the best part, at least for Alec and Jace, was that they didn't have to worry about Serena setting herself on fire because she didn't have enough heavenly fire in her system to do that since she'd only been nicked with a single shard.

Clary had paired with Simon, Alec with Lorenzo, who'd initially tried to pair with Serena before she explained that she didn't need a partner, and Jace with Meliorn.

But as Clary drew the rune for the first time, the room rumbled, and the lights flickered from the resistance of the angels as she struggled to get it to take hold on Simon's skin, the vampire hissing in pain.

But Clary pushed through anyways.

Alec was in awe of the magic he could now wield, and Serena couldn't help but smile at how cute he was. Jace, on the other hand, was jealous of the fact that Clary got vamp speed and Alec magic, and he got nothing. He was just glad that he'd only find out about his inability to lie once he entered Edom, for his twin would've had a field day with that information.

Lorenzo had then created a pentagram, a doorway for them in and out of Edom that almost burned them alive.

But when Serena landed inside the demonic realm, she landed alone.

It was a barren wasteland, the air hot and sticky, the sky orange with thunder.

But in the distance, she could see the rift, held closed with blue magic as the demons tried and failed to get through.

Drawing a sword, Serena gripped it tight as she tried to get her hands to stop sweating.

"Here goes nothing."

And she ventured through Hell.
