"5 minutes. I am gone to the bathroom for 5 minutes. What in Edom happened?!" Serena yelled as she walked into Jace's room to find Maryse on the floor and Izzy hunched over her, the girl having appeared out of nowhere.
"She tried to kill me, Rena! You have to believe me!" Jace cried, blonde hair hanging in his face. "Shadowhunters gossip. Max said I wasn't his brother, that I wasn't part of the family. So, I came here. And then Maryse came in and said all this stuff about wishing that she never took us in because we're demons... and... and..."
"Ok. Ok. It's ok Jacey. You're ok," Serena calmed as she hugged her brother who was shedding angry tears.
It was then that Magnus came in.
"Ok, the sangria may have been too strong," he commented as he looked at Maryse.
"This isn't funny. She just tried to kill me!" Jace said in anger as he let go of his sister who only pulled him back to her.
"Hey! Calm down," she said as Magnus waved his hand and began to heal Maryse with his magic.
"She threw an axe at me. It's in the shelf, right over th-"
Jace cut himself off as he turned to where he was pointed to see the shelf intact and no axe in sight.
"Jace there's nothing there," Izzy said and Jace took two steps away from his sister as Maryse gasped awake and Magnus helped her up.
"Don't let her up! She's out of her mind!" Jace cried.
"I came here to check if you were alright after what Max said," Maryse explained as she smoothed out her dress but Jace flinched back from her words.
"Aren't you hearing this? She just said it."
Serena took his hands.
"JJ, no one is trying to kill you," she promised.
"Jace I came up here to check on you, I swear on the Angel," Maryse repeated and Jace looked at her strangely.
"To check on me?"
Magnus however was observing the scene with inert curiosity. He was positive about what was happening now, especially after his encounter with Clary who had thought Simon was cheating on her with Maia when she hadn't even been looking at Simon nor Maia.
"Someone is messing with our minds. Feeding our deepest insecurities," Magnus explained before Clary's voice was heard.
"Alec! Alec, no!" she screamed and Serena was already out the door.
