"If you were stranded on an island, what would you do?"

That is a question many people have heard of or have been asked, but who would've thought this was going to happen one day. I sat in the cave, as rain continued to pour down on us. Behind me was Red Hood, who was making a fire. The two of us have never worked together before. Right now, neither of our communicators worked and we didn't exactly tell anyone we'd be on this secret mission.

"Fire's ready." Red Hood told me.

"Got it." I stood from my seated position and moved closer to the fire. We both sat across from each other, staring at the fire in front of us.

"So... how you doing?" Red asked me and I looked up at him, with a look that basically said, "Seriously? Look at our situation." He shrugged and continued to look at the fire. We sat in silence for a while. I glanced up at Red seeing him leaned against the cave wall.

"Is.. is he asleep?" I thought staring at the helmet over his head.

"Stop staring." He mumbled.

"Sorry." I replied. I heard him sigh and he took off his helmet to reveal his face, but his eyes covered with a red domino mask. His hair was black with a white streak in front and red roots. His face was clear of any blemishes, or beauty marks, however he did have  what seemed to be a scar on his cheek shaped like a J.

"What's your name?" He asked me. "I don't want to keep saying hey or you." he told me.

"... (Hero name)." I told him.

"I'm Red Hood." he told me.

"I know." I replied, " work with Nightwing often, and Red Robin talks about you a lot." I told him.

"How have we not met before if you work with them?" he asked me.

"Who knows?" I shrugged. "Maybe we just miss each other." I yawned.

"I'll keep watch you can sleep." he told me.

"... I can't have you stay up all night. Wake me up when you want to sleep." I told him.

"Obviously, I'm not planning on staying up all night." he said and I rolled my eyes, not that he could see under my mask. I laid down and managed to drift off to sleep after a while.

By the time I woke up, the fire was out, the rain had stopped, Red Hood was not in the cave and the sun was out. I quickly sat up and felt something fall onto my lap. I looked down at the brown leather jacket that seemed to have been my blanket through the night. I smiled a bit, and folded up the jacket and brought it with me as I stepped outside. The grown was muddy and I could easily follow Red's footsteps. It led all the way down to the beach, where I found Red in just a black shirt, and his usual black trousers, pulled up to his knees as he tried fishing with a wooden spear.

"Have a nice rest sleeping beauty?" he asked me.

"I told you to wake me up if you get tired." I said to him.

"Well I didn't get tired. You were pretty entertaining talking to yourself." he said to me.

"What did I saY?" I asked, embarrassed.

"Just how you were hungry for this and that." he said, throwing his spear again, and seemingly missing a fish.

"But nothing weird?" I asked.

"Depends what you consider to be weird." he replied.

"Whatever. I'll catch fish, why don't you try find something to shoot, like a bird or something?" I said, taking off my shoes and making my way into the water.

"Are you saying you doubt my ability to catch fish?" he asked me.

"I believe in your ability to shoot." I replied.

"... So you doubt my ability to catch fish?" he asked again.

"... yes." I smiled and he scoffed, handing me the spear.

"I'm going to look for a stupid bird." he grumbled gathering his things to go look for bigger game.

"Charming." I mumbled and turned my attention to spear fishing.

Days passed and the two of us eventually got to know each other, but still not enough to reveal our faces or names. "You're telling me, that Nightwing believes in that horoscope stuff?" I asked.

"Like a religion. If it says he has bad luck, he won't even leave the house." Red told me and I couldn't help but laugh.

"He's a Leo, right?" I asked and Red seemed to think for a moment before nodding. "What about you?" I asked him.

"I believe.. Scorpio." he said.

"Nice, I'm a (horoscope)." I told him.

We continued to talk about random things, like how you could Rick Roll someone by mail in the old days or if you google the word askew, your screen turns slightly clockwise, or how baby corn is just regular corn harvested early.

A total of a week has passed, and now we were bored. We were now both sat on the beach under a tree, leaning against each other. "You know, it seems impossible how they haven't found us yet. Flash and Superman can literally search the earth in seconds. "Hm, what if we died and this is limbo?" he asked.

"I don't think dead people can feel pain." I said punching his leg and he smiled, rubbing the area I hit.

"Owch." he teased.

"Shut up." I smiled and continued leaning against him.

"Anyway, even if they aren't looking for me, they're definitely looking for you." he said ruffling my hair. I glanced at him, knowing he sometimes talks like this, as if no one is waiting for him or cares for him.

"Well.. if you ever go missing for you, I'll be the first to find you." I told him.

"Oh really?" he asked me.

"Of course." I smiled.

"Promise?" he asked holding out his pinky.

".. We aren't children." I said, still linking my pinkie with his and he smiled.

A few days later, we were found by Superman and Batman. "Sorry for the wait, things came up." Superman said.

"It wasn't that bad." I smiled and looked at Red who smiled back at me.

When we got back, the two of us got examined by doctors and stuff to make sure we were okay, nothing was injured, and we were also questioned on how and why we ended up where we were.

By the time the two of us were finally released to go back to our usual life style, three days had passed since we were rescued. "So, I guess I'll be seeing you around?" I asked, looking at Red, who was getting his motorcycle ready.

"Yeah.. so.." He reached into his jacket and brought out an old piece of paper and also managed to get a pen. He scribbled somethings down and handed it to me. It was a number, an address and at the very bottom was his first name.

I looked at him surprised. "Is this...?" I asked.

"If you don't want to tell me yours that's fine, and if you don't want to call me by that, it's also fine. Just.. a way to stay in touch." he smiled.

"I'll give you a call, Jason." I smiled.

He nodded, putting on his helmet, "I'll b waiting for it." he said and drove off.

I looked at the paper he wrote his information on and turned it over seeing it was a receipt from some fast food place about 3 years ago. I couldn't help but laugh and put the information into my own phone before putting the paper away in my pocket.
